Shiny and new (ish) Arcade

I went to Glasgow and all I got was this stupid T-shirt pair of brakes, tyres and a couple of other bits (Thanks Ali. Thali). Bike feels even nicer to ride now, can't wait to go and ride it properly tomorrow. It's weird when I'm riding along and I look down and don't see the familiar Holy Roller/Hope stem combo, but this has transformed how my bike feels so it's all good...

Having run the original Tech levers, these do feel quite a bit nicer.

Before anyone says anything, that extra 5mm stacker is staying until I've made sure I don't need that extra bit of steerer tube ;)

As far as I can see this is E4 and hope mono 6 saw 203, good choice, V4 are really too much(and heavy).

How they are working? With 203mm rotors? They are awesome, deadly hold and bite. And loads of modulation at the same time.

Bike looks awesome. Mark. So clean and stealthy.

Beaut. How are the Hope 4 pots working?

Not too bad so far. They don't really feel as rim brake-y as Saints do but seem to hold OK. My plan if they're not all that is to just try out some of the EBC Red pads as they jazzed my M810s up pretty nicely, although I don't really think I'll need to from the feel of things so far.

The tires look huge, more than usual!

Good lookin´bike Mark, it´s time to do a new Clean movie so i can spend my evenings watching it before sleep :wink2:

Forgot to reply to this - the 40mm rims definitely help make the tyres look a bit bigger. Ali's running the 30mm Subrosa rims and the tyre profile looks quite a lot different between the two of them.

No new Clean video for a bit, but we just wrapped up filming for Ali's new video so there'll at least be something new for you to watch.

Wich rims are those by the way? Why Ali does not use Inspired rims, a bit contradiction no? Anyway subrosa rims are very good.

Glad there is a new Ali video in the works, can't wait :)

Mark how do you allllways have such nice looking bikes? I have to say it's odd having you go on my bike and then change your own to make it feel like mine, it's normally the other way round.

If it's any help, these were my brakes that I gave to Mark, I didn't get on with them for a couple of reasons.

1) I'm stubborn and I liked my saints

2) they have far too much pad knock for my liking

3) they are loud

4) I cut my fingers on the levers

5) hard to get a non rubbing brake (Mark managed it though)

I don't use inspired rims as I have always used Spank rims as I can fit and forget about them.

You should definitely make a new vid Mark, I'll film you next time we go somewhere.

Have you sprayed the forks or are they old proto's with no graphic?

They're old protos that I sprayed - they're ones that Ali had, but they were the most scratched I've ever seen a pair of forks be so I gave them a once over with some weird black spray paint at the flat (badly).

What seat is that dude ?

It's the Cult Dehart Tripod seat.

Excellent valve/tyre placement on the rims, and wheel/pedal placement for the photos.

As for the bike, looks great! Grips seems really thin though...

A longer term review for the Hope's would be nice too.

Old habits die hard, haha. I find having the valve by a logo makes it a load easier to find too. It just looks boss as well ;)

The grips are pretty thin. They're 1.5mm thick when they're new, and they've worn in a bit now so they're fairly slender.

Hopefully I'll stick with brakes long enough to do that longer term review ;) After how much fun today/tonight's ride was I think they'll be on for a bit longer yet, plus it seems a lot of the spots in Cardiff are more trialsy so they'll probably be useful. Getting to bomb the two hills from my house to the centre of Bristol today was fun too :P

I think I just fancied a change really, I hadn't really switched my bike up for the past 3-4 years or so... As well as that, having that 70x35 stem on made an instant improvement to what it was like on the back wheel. With the Hope one on and my old bar angle keeping it on the back wheel brakeless was fine, but with brakes it totally changed. Rode loads today and it was super easy to keep on the back wheel. No regrets. Gradually getting used to the Conti tyres too. They feel a bit heavier than my old worn Holy Rollers were (no shit) but it's no biggie really.

After feeling how much better my front brake got after Cap (and then me at Inspired the day after) topped it up I'm tempted to give it a go for my rear brake too as it's feeling pretty similar to how the front was. Just need to get some Dot fluid and I'll be good to go.

Thanks again for the bits too :)

Nice looking bikes are purely 'cos of the tyre logo/valve placement. This is why you fail.
