in fact theyre the non-plus-ultra for heavy duty use.i've never had a hub that lasted as long as my hope.mines going strong for the 3rd year, only thing i've changed so far is putting new axle bearings in.

maybe some day i'll get myself an 80t hubshell for my existing hub.other than that no complaints,it just works.

But they costs 2.5+ times more than hope. Costs more and needs more attention. Hmmm...

Mine has lasted 13 years, pretty good value. Mine started skipping a little recently but I hadn't serviced it for around two years, spent a couple of hours cleaning the internals and lubing it properly. Works great again.

Absolutely not. Ferrari are better than Ford in everything. Kings are not. Especially with new 80T hopes.

What about maintenance costs and service intervals?

That was exactly my point...

You're complaining about the cost of a King when you've bought multiple sets of disc brakes that you find cheap?

You post so much shit.

If I pay money I want the best. It seems that Kings are not the best, because alot of people saying that they skips.

Alright, I'll try one. Which one is better for trials?

All of the king internals are identical, you will want the HD axle/funbolts and probably the stainless steel driveshell upgrades if the hub doesn't come with them.

There are reports of newer kings not being as reliable as old ones, how much of this is due to not bedding them in or not I don't know. If new, they need a good time installed on a bike to bed in properly, best to put it on a mountainbike or roadbike for a couple of months before subjecting it to trials forces, this allows the helical splines to bed in together and the driverings to engage fully. If you start riding trials straight away on it you may risk the driverings not engaging fully before full torque is applied resulting in skipping, if this happens you will start to burr the teeth on the rings and effectively ruin the hub. Buy a second hand one that is known to be good for trials and you should have no issues.

I got my king second hand off ben travis 10 years ago and it has NEVER skipped, I pop the drive shell out every so often, clean the splines with a toothbrush and relube with a little finishline xc wet and it's all good. The design is very good for trials, as long as the spline is free (clean and not binding) then the more torque you put through the drive the more it will engage as it all works in compression against the axle tieing the whole lot together.
