Herbertlemon102
I run my limey with intergrated tensioners- (I can hear the groans already) but no, I managed to find a way to keep constant chain tension with the tensioners, however- every once in a while, under pressure from the pedals, I feel a clunk, and the chain will go slightly slack, and the wheel will rub against my magura the tiniest amount. Spin the cranks once, it returns to normal. It's not the tensioners, or the bolts on the wheel, as I have checked these and they do not move in any way. I'm thinking it could be the freewheel, or the hub bearings? Anyone clarify me on this? Edited September 25, 2014 by Herbertlemon102
weirdoku
Freewheels are slightly eccentric. When I tighten my chain with integrated tensiones on my Genesis there are tight spots in my chain and slightly looser spots when I rotate the crank. But what you're describing, when under pressure from pedals your frame flexes a little and the chain tension will loosen under load. It'll go back to normal when not under load. Watch some videos and look closely at the chain when the rider is preloading, the chain will slacken a bit. Cap
Take the wheel out and see if the axle is still in one piece (probably will be as a snapped axle would be more noticeable but it's free to have a look ) while it is out you will be able to check the bearings too. Disc.Jokie.
could be spokes being loose, i used to have a similar problem, when i put power down my brake would catch, the then i was normal cycling, no catching. had the spokes tensioned and was fine. dann2707
Depends on the frame I found. When I ran my neon bow it used to flex a ridiculous amount when stood still with the brakes on, pressing hard on the pedals. The whole bottom bracket area used to clearly twist with the torque, was quite funny to see but not really that confidence inspiring.
