Willeyeam
I guess it's a pretty common for newcomers to ask what street trials bike should i get? How much do i need to spend? Is an Inspired worth the extra over a Zoot? ect ect. I've just gone from a 2011 Fourplay to a Zoot due to moving to Canada for a year and i thought i would post a review. The second hand Fourplay with some new shimano Zees on icetech rotors cost me 4 times the amount of the second hand Zoot so there's a pretty big difference there. In terms of performance i'll state the obvious and say the Fourplay is better, however not by that much. For street moves the Fourplay is a little better at everything. It spins better, bunnyhops better and feels generally stiffer and more sturdy. It's slightly easier to get the front up into a manual on the Fourplay but once the front's up manuals are about the same on both bikes. Moving to a Zoot hasn't impacted my riding massively though. In terms of more trialsy moves i've found the Zoot isn't any worse, with the exception of to front moves, where it's slightly worse. This could be due to the slacker head angle or simply because of the thinner tire and worse brake. Once i settle in to it a bit more i may even prefer it on the rear wheel due to the +15mm more bb rise. It's pointless doing a Zee vs zoot V brake comparison but with a bit of fiddling around and a very light grind i've got the brakes good enough to not slip out. My riding is pretty much up to where it was on the Fourplay after 2 long rides on the zoot. I've been bashing it pretty hard so there's a chance i'll update this in a month and say "just buy a Fourplay my bloody Zoot just snapped", but at the moment my verdict is unless money isn't an object a Zoot will do just fine. Clerictgm mk2
You and your skill > bike. I don't really care about geometry and stuff. +20 BB or +30. Just ride more. Geo is a double-edged sword. If you move to trials you'll get worst in streety moves. So as we ride street-trials it's not so important. Now I miss my Marino, despite of it was cracked, re-welded, a bit curved at chainstays, on hardly worn parts and costs a penny. Clerictgm mk2
Yep. And after all I want to say that joy of riding are absolutely unrelated to bike expensiveness and "coolness(hey guys I've just bought new shinEy megabike! it's so cooool)".
