Influx
Just wondered if anyone had any advice on which pads work well with Saint 820's? I've had a search through the forums, but most the posts seem to be several years old. What are people currently running? Cheers guys! Dman
Cocky told me to get these for my zees, similar to saints http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/disc_brake_pads/aztec_organic_pads_fits_shimano_saint_brakes/c83p12366.html
Influx
Thank you. Picked up some organic Aztecs from eBay. I'll give them a shot
Paperclip
Yeah what Dman said, I'm a big guy and the brake hold is amazing any weather, They also work well for manuals and feathering the brake in moves. I also found that because of the paint work on the back of these pads you can't hear any pad rock whatsoever compared to other pads on the market. niconj
I'd recommend EBC Redstuff. Bedding them in on the rear is a pain in the *** though as the rear wheel skids at the lightest touch of the brake.
Influx
Thanks niconj. I'll give those a try next.
niconj
Mine are bedded in now and are awesome. Funny thing is that pad rocking wasn't an issue in the beginning, now it is. I don't mind it though since the brake is awesome!
Ali C
just tried some of those, they don't seem as powerful as sintered pads, I just tried Shimano's sintered pads and EBC reds back to back and the Shimano ones were noticeably better. Very very interesting as I still can't believe that sintered are any better than organic pads. Not that I'm questioning your expertise. How did you bed the sintered in and what rotors are you running? edit: The EBCs took a while to bed in though. In the beginning I wasn't too fond of those either. Ali C
The EBCs were decent, but I was out yesterday and was trying to go to back wheel up something high and it kept on slipping out on me, I find golds have way more bite and more hold. I bedded them both in by just going out riding and I'm using 200mm Shimano rotors

I actually can't get my brakes to slip now that they have bedded in (180mm RT66 rotor), if something slips it's the tyre. Then again, I'm not going big... I just can't believe it as everybody else says that organic pads are better.... On the other hand, the Jitsie for Hope/Echo brakes are sintered as well... So just for the record. What are the best brake pads for the Saints in your opinion? Edited July 25, 2014 by niconj
Ali C
The wall I was trying was about nipple height so the brake was being tested. Ive found the standard shimano pads to be the best.
niconj
Damn... I was about to buy some... I have to admit that the EBCs need some braking when it's wet to perform well. In the dry they are awesome.
jack dickinson
Ali do you use rt86 rotors? Or rt66 rotors?
Ali C
I just popped on some new rt66 ones
