TOMTRIALS123
I was out riding today and I was making my way up a steep slope by hopping up but my rear tyres sidewall caught a sharp rock and has cut the outer layer of the tyre but not pierced it. 1. Does it need replacing? 2. Should I just use it until destruction?
persistant_itch
Keep using it but be prepared as it could go. Just keep an eye on it, I've had that problem with the thin sidewall of the holy roller and generally I just keep going until it gives up
TOMTRIALS123
The tyre in question is a WTB Weirwolf DH Tyre so I'll probably keep using it for a bit but I'll probably use it as a spare as I don't want to burst any more inner tubes.
goanywhere
I had problem with the wire bead on that tyre, kept poking out and popping the tube.
TOMTRIALS123
I had problem with the wire bead on that tyre, kept poking out and popping the tube. That's strange. I haven't had any punctures due to that, just poor riding skills and my tendency to go too quickly and not give myself enough time resulting in me smashing into things

J.KYDD
Is that the tube that's visible?
TOMTRIALS123
Is that the tube that's visible? I'm not entirely sure. If it is, the tyre has an extremely thin sidewall.
J.KYDD
Remove the tyre and see if the hole is right through, If it is, get a large puncture repair patch and repair the tyre from the inside as you would a tube. Or, cut up an old inner tube to a piece around 6cm long - 3cm wide to cover the hole and use some proper duct tape to stick it to the inside.
