persistant_itch
Hey there, Quick question about tyre roll off a rim. I'm using atom lab pimp lites and at the minute I'm practicing rock walk drops and almost every time I land even a little sideways I'm getting fairly bad tyre roll off the back rim. Is this just because the rim is narrow as opposed to the inspired rims for example, or is tyre pressure playing a part too? I'm shitting myself that the tyre is gonna pull off the rim completely! Thanks Bernard
craigjames
Low pressures and narrow rims will both contribute to tyre roll. What pressure are you running and what tyres? Running 45+ PSI and you should be ok with most tyres on those rims.
jack dickinson
what tyre is it?
JJ Leigh
tyre doesn't matter much if the rim is narrow, get a wider rim but for now, pump dem tyres up a bit man
persistant_itch
They're holy rollers. Yeah I'm gonna have to pump them up, they're in now way soft low but could go harder I suppose Cheers lads
JJ Leigh
even still though, get wider rims. the weight wont be a huge problem and there not gonna instantly break if there not atomlab rims anyway Edited June 23, 2014 by JJ Leigh
jack dickinson
yeah, when i changed to a danny mac tyre from a kenda blue groove, i started getting bad tyre roll which i didn't get before
persistant_itch
What are the danny macs like? Worth the money? Also does anybody have any experience with spank stiffy rims?
jack dickinson
well i ride a radix and you do street, so can't say but everybody who does street loves them. they seem very bouncy compared to my last tyres. also work great on my radix, apart from the tyre roll
HippY
Also does anybody have any experience with spank stiffy rims? Ali C rides them. Nuff said I use my holy rollers at around 2.5 bars. still not rock solid but hold up well on my 32 mm rim (or 36?)
isitafox
Stiffys are awesome
AndrewEH1
When I ran those rims/tyres I had about 40-50 PSI and didn't have any real issues.
isitafox
I think the tube you run plays a part, cheap thin tubes seem to balloon on me but good quality thick downhill tubes on the back hold up well
persistant_itch
I'm running maxxis dh in them at the minute, and i think around 35 psi, any harder and i just dont feel right on it.
