Trialsrob2014
just a quick question to you all:-) I'm having issues with my new bike and wondered if you could help identify the issue... Basically my freewheel is moving up/down/in/out causing tight spots and lose spots on the chain... Also when putting pressure on the peddles the cranks will move but not the freewheel... Have you got any ideas??? Much appreciated cheers Rob Video Attached
dngr2self
Sounds like the freewheel is knackered and possibly the axle on the bb is bent. If its the standard ffw then you can service it while its still on the cranks. That should be the first port of call. It might be that the lock ring has come loose and the internals could just need resembling.
onzatpro09
If the cranks spin and freewheel doesn't, it sounds like stripped crank threads :/
craigjames
A bit of oscillation is normal. So tight/loose spots can be expected. However as said if the FW is staying still as the cranks rotate then I would say the crank threads are stripped.
jack dickinson
or if it's a new bike the ffw in't fully tightened on properly??? also how tight is your chain?
dngr2self
I thought stripped threads at first but its hard to tell from your description. Whip the drive side crank off though and inspect it. That'll make it easier to suss the problem out.
