fixnride
Building a 26" street/trials bike later this year, and am wondering whether a seat is really necessary despite popular brands like Inspired and Ozonys using them. I have one on the bike I use for urban at the moment but never even touch it? Could it be useful in the future as my riding progresses? If I cannot justify it performance wise, I think I will do without. Any help appreciated! Edited June 17, 2014 by fixnride

jack1987
Don't take your seat off I did that once crashed and cut my privates open on the seat tube!
waybe2014
Performance wise a seat will add nothing other than weight. They are purely there for aesthetics and relaxing.
J.KYDD
If the frame you are building on is designed to have a seat - then fit one

fixnride
Thanks guys, I haven't made it yet, so its a matter of whether the seat tube sticks through the top tube or not, plus the top tube would be lower if there was no seat/place to put one. I sure wouldn't remove a seat from a bike that is intended to have one after hearing about you accident there trials monkey!
Paperclip
You're doing it wrong. You should go onto vimeo or youtube and watch some trials videos and some street trials videos and choose which interests you the most. If you like one more than the other and want to give one a go you'll find a pretty huge change in the geo of a street trials bike over a normal trials bike so you should take that into consideration also. rongrong32
no seat is good, it makes it lighter and easier to jump off the bike if you go off balance. if you dont want people to ask you all the time *why dont you have a seat?* then put a seat on. Mark W
Performance wise a seat will add nothing other than weight. They are purely there for aesthetics and relaxing. I find that on some tricks I lean against my seat, and it also in general just kind of gives me a feel for where my bike is. There are also quite a few tricks you can do where they're required as well. But yeah, it just depends on the type of riding you're doing.
