isitafox
Can't deny that some of the moves were spectacular and great for a crowd but it all seems to be style over substance. And I don't know if it's just YouTube that's raped the quality but the production wasn't great.
PatJsy
Want to see where this kind of "street trials" will be a few years from now? About the same place as BMX was 5-6 years ago... Not saying you shouldn't ride like that but you're not really pushing the sport if you're just doing out of date BMX tricks on what pretty much is a 24" BMX. Danny Mac had the right idea when he started linking trials with some rolling lines and making street riding interesting. This is just park riding, there's nothing trialsy about it. Feel like I'm moaning/talking crap but do people not think the same thing? EDIT: This video sums my point up even better, the riding is probably better even though it's from 2008 or something. I'd even go as far as saying he does more trials than anyone in the other video. Edited June 15, 2014 by PatJsy
bikeperson45
I agree with above mostly. That tailwhip tyre tap drop was awesome though.

Same again though - really old BMX trick and it was probably the highlight of the whole video.
Mark W
It being called a "street" contest when it's various trials obstacles in a field kind of shows the difference in views towards it I guess. For the French dudes "street trials" seems to just be doing those moves, but to me street involves interacting with what's around you and trying to create new moves/links relating to what you're actually riding (and much more, but that's the more relevant thing here). It had a fairly demo-y vibe to it, and as a demo I can see it would have worked pretty well and kept the crowd interested.

Youre moaning about the production? its not being shown on tv/dvd you know, its just a trials video on youtube, you obviously havent seen any of the really old videos which are filmed on mini dv camcorders by one of the riders mates/tripod.. Who cares.
isitafox
This wasn't filmed by a riders mate on his mini dv though? Looked more like a promo video to me. Could pretty easily link you a few vids made by people of there mates on here for the love of it and they're considerably better!

Doesnt mean to say it is, I can also link you to a better video than this? doesnt mean that the standard of every video needs to meet the best video youve ever seen does it? its not like it was terrible quality and really badly filmed with a nokia 3310i and a guy with parkinsons, literally the pickiest thing you could of commented on, im all up for constructive criticism and probs so is the guy who made it but it really wasnt as bad as you made out to be, from the "production" point of view. chimpanzyyyy
I was waiting for it I respect the skills of the riders some very big moves in there but yeah, it wasn't my thing it was like a bad tgs vid, it just doesn't makes you want to ride your bike sorry

I couldn't agree more with what your saying, Danny Mac got away with it cause he adapted street and trials in one line... All the Helicopter spins and tail whip kinda stuff should be (as you stated) left at the skatepark... It may be very skilful but you didn't see motor trials doing that kinda stuff, I suppose it's bringing new stuff into place but at the same time it's turning trials into 3 categories; Street, Natural and BMXing kinda trials haha

JJ Leigh
Interesting. its jealousy at the end of the day, dont worry i can kinda see why people might mention the style, but then again look at the level of riding, its highly respectable. EDIT: this is trials forum though Edited June 16, 2014 by JJ Leigh
thinkdougie
Had to turn it off after about 30 seconds, not really trials is it
Mark W
its jealousy at the end of the day, dont worry Why is it people always say that? Most people who've said anything unfavourable about it have backed it up with a reason to explain it. Does the fact I don't like mango but do like oranges mean that I'm "jealous" of mangoes? Does the fact I didn't like the film Primary Colors but do like the film Fight Club mean I'm "jealous" of Primary Colors? People like different things. Some people like watching their riding, but some don't. Some people like watching comp riding, some don't. Same goes for street, TGS, BMX, etc.
JJ Leigh
it just seems to be alot of the time it is jealousy thats all. most people dont tend to complain about stuff thats good otherwise, i dunno really. i totally get what u mean though
Scotty Evil1
I liked it. Some massive moves in there, a lot of stuff I wasn't expecting. Although, once again there does seem to be waaaaay too many footjam whips! Some people may not like the 'sell out' side of it, which I understand, but then again, if they wanted to have fun by making a bit of a show/comp out of it, I don't see the problem, each to their own. I do have a feeling though, If it had been made/uploaded by someone other than freestyl"air and featured other riders doing the same stuff, It would have gotten a different reaction, a lot of jumping on the bandwagon In these threads...... JohnLanglois - Your pretty mental! Was good to see Rodrigue in there too Does seem a very french thing to do

Fabio Wibmer's videos often take some shit because people felt the riding was "too Danny Mac"/not creative or varied enough. Same thing happened to some other relatively unknown dude who put a video up that was largely footjam-whip-based who's name I've totally forgotten now. Every video Danny Mac puts out gets that same sort of criticism too.

LEON
Leo is a beast, I don't think there are many riders better than him at the moment. I think all of them have upped their game & are going even bigger, and that tyre tap to tailwhip drop?? Can Danny even do that? No footed backflip on a tiny jump! It must push them further all being so good and riding together. Also the chance to win all that prize money is pretty awesome, hope it catches on!
