Sam Song
I am currently running 18/15 with 175mm cranks on my Zoo Piranha 2009. And some of my local riders are telling me that I should switch to 18/16 for its 'lighter' feel. I have tried their 18/16 26 bikes, but with different set-ups on other parts as well, it is hard to be objective about this. Assuming that chainstay length, tension, etc stay equal, which one would you go for on a 26 inch bike? And I'm talking about comp/TGS style 26 inch bikes. isitafox
I don't think you can come to a proper conclusion about this without trying it for yourself on your own bike
Jake.
If you need a lighter feel than 18-15 I'll be worried, been thinking about 18-14 myself.
isitafox
I'm almost there, 22-15 on my street bike is feeling a bit too light but I don't know if 22-14 is getting a bit extreme!
brakelеss_ftw
Trying new/extraordinary stuff is always good, so try it, isitafox. Now I have 22-17/14 with rear mech and 170mm cranks and still able to do trials stuff with 22-14, so maybe it'll be ridable with 175 cranks, strong legs and time to get used to. Ross McArthur
thinking about 18-14 myself. You're a good thinker eh Jake. You either stop posting that you're thinking about doing it, or you actually do it and STFU. I run 18:16. Love it for natural stuff but feel its a bit light for TGS duties. I prefer it as an all rounder so stick with it.
