Shedding weight

Recommended Posts

I'm currently building a 2005 onza T-rex (its what I've got on my budget so no "buy a lighter frame" comments please!) I'd like to shed a bit of weight from it as it's a bit of a heavy lump! So far I've cut the gear cable tabs off and cut a hole on the head tube and stripped the paint. Is there anything else I could do to shed some grams or is it now down to buying lighter parts?

i wouldn't say the ti bb is essential, the best (read nerdiest) thing to do is compare the cost to the potential saving; pick the cheapest heaviest, and work out the value of the weight saving, it should highlight the best areas to shave weight effectively.

your priorities should be in having light wheels/tyres, as they will dictate the feel of the bike the most...

Don't use single wall rims on the rear for the love of god

times have changed danny, it's ok to run a singlewall rim on the rear. they're fine unless your neil watson or damon tunnicliffe, or TR scott or whoever
