James281098
What is a really powerful cable disk brake caliper? I have shimano deores atm and they are great but I want to try a mechanical front disk instead so I can run the cable through the forks easily... What is best and does anyone have a caliper lying around they wouldn't mind rid of? Are there any advantages to a mechanical or fluid disk brake? Off topic, how much are koxx forks worth 26" disc only Also does anyone know what are better pads to fit a shimano deore disk brake than what comes as standard? Cheers guys Edited May 13, 2014 by James281098
isitafox
Cable disc you want a BB7,advantages are they are easy to adjust and no chance of contaminating pads and disc. Can't help you with the other questions though.

Haha? after trials kings, but before street riding was all about manuals and 24" 'street' riders were all about the TGS, neil is one of the greats... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9UGMRg2OAQ Edited May 13, 2014 by ogre
dngr2self
Thanks and no worries, are they grippy and how powerful do you know? Are they better than hydraulic brakes? I wouldn't say better but a well set up mechanical is as good as a hydraulic.
HippY
how easy to set them up and maintaining them?
isitafox
Piece of piss, don't really need much maintainance either
Ross McArthur
Yup, tighen the caliper bolts so the inside pad is ~1mm away from the disc then turn the red dial till the outside pad is also ~1mm away from the disc. Thats all after tightening the inner brake cable to the caliper of course.
J.KYDD
BB7 + SD7 lever = win
ogre
the lever feel on a rear bb7 isn't as positive or light as a front bb7, i swapped back to rear bb7 after using a hope for ages and found the lack of clear biting point a little wierd, but for a front brake you shouldn't find similar issues. you certainly won't be disappointed by the power of the thing.
