You've been able to see when messages have been delivered/read via text since early 2000's.

Putting a lot of info into a text and not much into a Whatsapp and vice versa is entirely up to you, nothing to do with the method of delivery.

Texts in most cases are free these days.

It is absolutely identical, how you use it may affect how you feel about it but it is literally identical other than it using the internet not mobile network.

Funnily enough I only use Whatsapp because there is never mobile signal where I live, and I use it in exactly the same way I ever used text messaging...

That is all :)

Nobody has yet come up with a reasonable argument as to why it is different... "it IS different because I can fire endless bullshit at a girl I haven't met yet" is not an argument, I was doing that by text years ago :P

edit - Same with voice clips, nothing new there either.

can I do that on my phone without the app?

hmm

Imagine a tool. like a landline. and you could talk to the other person in real life. quickly and neatly.

now Imagine if everyone would have this tool so you could like call the person

I think it would revolutionize the industry

You do but the messages are instant. Literally send it back and forth and if you're both online at the same time you can fire messages back do forth at each other at an incredible rate.

Texting you have to send the text, even if you don't sign it with kisses it's very very very unlikely you're going to be waiting on the text screen for a reply. You're most likely press home and go and check the Internet or something.

With WhatsApp you're both "on it" at the same time if you are so it's literally like Facebook chat or any other chat service.

I don't see how some people simply aren't getting that. It's f**king stupidly logical haha

To be fair dan, texts don't take all that long to send/recieve*. I get that the app may be a little quicker, but that doesn't change the dynamic to being "totally differnt"

*Except in my case, as I have the thumb speed of a pensioner :P

It does though. That's the thing! :)

duuuude, you've offered no explanation whyyy.

I've never used it, so I'm not 'arguing', just trying to comprehend the differnce. as far as your description has been so far there is very little smiley-confused004.gif

An analogy of the differnces so far would be; maglev trains are faster than steam trains..

but theyre both trains. :S

Its not free, neither are texts. Those "unlimited free texts" you get are still paid for through your contract. All that time spent on your 3 or 4G are all paid for through your contract. Unless you're scrounging off your Mummy and Daddies Wifi, you're paying for that too.

So your entire explanation of difference between the two, is speed? Funnily enough that depends on your network provider and/or wifi speed, if like here there is no network and your wifi is toilet then Whatsapp is toilet (but all I have so I can't complain), it can take over an hour for my "instant" response to arrive sometimes.

It is identical to texting in every way, I have sat with a text screen open before waiting for fast paced replies to arrive, so that's not different.

You have still yet to come up with a sensible argument, all you've got it "I can send a full-on assault of pics to girls I want to pork with Whatsapp!" that's it... I'm willing to be talked round, but you're going to need some kind of logic behind your nonsense!
