MadManMike
Bonjour all, My brother is looking to get a hybrid, with a budget of £350-500. I did suggest buying second hand to get more bike for his buck, but he's looking to do it on finance so can't do second hand. I suggested that Boardman bikes are pretty good for the money, but to be honest I don't know that much about hybrids. Any other suggestions? Cheers, Mike. ogre
the boardman ones aren't bad at all (i'm a halfords lackey) has he decided if he wants it to be road or off road orientated? the carrera gryphon is really decent if he just wants to stick to the road/concrete. plus if you join british cycling you can get 10% off all bikehut stuff, it's £20 to join, so if he spends more than £200 it pays for itself... MadManMike
He lives in Brighton, so it'll be mostly roads / hills, with the odd bit of park / woodland riding. I'd say 70% road / promenade riding, 30% semi-off road. He won't be doing trails or anything too hard core.
ogre
one of these would be alright for light off-road stuff... theres a blingier one too

MadManMike
Cheers for the links ogre! I saw that Boardman on there, the £499 one - looks perfect, I've just got to convince him it's worth spending more. He doesn't know much about bikes. James - read my original post.
