Not going to tartydays

I can't go to tartydays as I no longer have a trials bike :( which means unless someone wants to swap a trials bike for my trek (pictures below, hope brake, FSA bars, mavic rear rim, needs new forks seals) I cannot go which is a damn shame. Which also means I have one rider ticket which unless I can't find a trials bike to use/ swap/ borrow I don't need.

I'm still amazed your parents believed your story about why that car door got dented.

To the guy who made the thread though - there's a bunch of dirt jumps and a foam pit at Barrow Farm, so even if you brought your jump bike you could fling yourself around on there. I'm sure people would let you have a go on their bikes throughout the weekend too.

I came there with a bike (hopefully) and with no skill

At worst I can sit cool in the corner with a beer in my hand on my bike, while watching others doing proper riding

Ohh yeah, quick question regarding beer:

What type should I bring, how much, and what rules are there for them?( apart from not riding under the influence)

I think they just trust me because I'm normally impeccibly behaved it must have been a bit of a blip that day...... Or because when I normally crash one of their cars it has to be replaced not fixed.......

Also who do I know is going Tarty Days? Could pop down.... If I dont get thrown out again

Well, I guess it wasn't your fault those nasty Welsh people took exception to an Englishman getting into their midst ;)

Hippy - you can ride under the influence, just don't get caught (or filmed). For proof, skip to 11:55 ;)

Lager

I'm fetching 60 cans, so anywhere near that should be good

Drink as much as you can and try not to spew. Simples

Drinking's fine, but please bear in mind there's going to be quite a lot of young kids and families there.

Condescending nora!

The fun police are here :P

Not really though. I was just putting it out there.

Radfest has always seems a bit of a "lads weekend out" - ride your bikes and get drunk at night.

If this year's Tarty Days is anything like last year's (which it seems it will be), it's quite a different vibe and attracts quite different people.

The fact he's planning on bringing that much alcohol made me think he might not have been aware of the difference between the events so just thought to mention it. Is that Ok?

Even taking kids out of the equation, there are many teens/twenty-somethings who don't enjoy dealing with drunken people being wankers.

I know I found it very frustrating - I went to the early Radfests to see people I'd not seen in a long time and get as much riding done as possible.

I didn't want to be kept awake by other peoples' "banter", which made me super tired the next day so couldn't ride as much.

That's just how that event is though, so whatever.

Sorry for trying to make it enjoyable for everyone.

It's not often people from around the Country get together, get the time off Uni, get the time off work so surely just let them do what they want? (To an extent obvs)

I don't see a curfew on the time, if people want to have drunk and have a laugh with people they won't see for a year then surely that's totally up to them?

I know you're not a drinker so maybe that's why you're feeling this way :)

What about those who aren't drinking but are just as loud? Think you're just being typical miserable flipp that happens once every other post on here :P

In fairness, last year there was still a reasonable amount of drinking/chatting going on into the small hours but it was all the other side of the stands/trade area bit by the course. I'd imagine it'd be much the same this year. That said, I'd imagine that 90% of the drinking won't be done by one person again this year, mainly 'cos that person's bringing his girlfriend along too so there's probably a bit more impetus to not piss up against fence posts in front of brand managers and things like that...

Like I said, I am a parent and I will respect the family overtones that you are suggesting. I feel like that you are implying I will get blind drunk and be loud and cause trouble? I can assure you now that at 33 years old that kind of behaviour is long behind me. The 'try not to spew everywhere' comment was meant to be tongue in cheek, but you appear to have taken the pessimistic approach to this. If you have an issue with the way I behave at tarty days, then by all means come and tell me and I will modify my behaviour. But I can assure you, as a parent and an actual grown up, you will have no problems with me. I hope this clears things up

Dan
