Willeyeam
I'm buying some m810 saints second hand later, is there anything particular I should look out for? Edit: I'm now the proud owner of a pair of m810 saints. They were £160 including ice tech rotors and mounts so from the little research i've done i think that was a good deal. I got them from pinkbike and the guy wanted to meet in a neutral place so I was a bit worried they might be dodgey. I popped the rotor in each and gave the lever a squeeze and everything feels fine so hopefully I won't have any problems. ben_travis
The seals on my levers were both leaking after about 2 years of use. No replaceable parts available unfortunately
isitafox
Also the seals on the pistons in the caliper. I bought a pair off Pinkbike and the front was fine but the rear was f**ked.
Willeyeam
I'll try and make sure the seals are all ok althought I don't know how obvious this will be without mounting them. These are from pink bike too, the guys says the seals are all fine and he's only selling them because he's bought the 820s. If the calliper seal had gone is it a big issue like the lever one? Ross McArthur
Stick something inbetween the pads and pull the lever a few times in your hand. Should be able to get a decent idea of how they are by doing that.
Christiaan
Just bought a set of secondhand m810`s aswell. Seem to be in good condition from the pictures i've seen. Also thought this brakes supposed to be bombproof... I guess I just wait and see how they turn up..
Willeyeam
Thanks Ross that's some good advice, I'm leaving to get them now fingers crossed
LEON
Yeah it's a gamble buying them used as you can't service them, I'm on my 4th rear lever (first 3 were used, this one's new & fine)
Sam Nichols
These seals must be available from SOMEWHERE though? It's crazy that Shimano don't offer service items for such an expensive brake. Surely they must buy them in bulk from somewhere, I doubt they are manufacturing their own bespoke seals? isitafox
I spent almost a full shift one night scouring the web about this on every downhill and trail forum I could find and nobody has found something to solve it. Apparently the seals are a one off and there aren't any alternatives you can use in their place. Could do with Racing Line or Jitsie looking into it as they like to make the stuff no one else will! CriminalRider
Isn't saint seals have not a single analog? I bought seals for maggie/echo brakes in rubber products shop and it works fine. Plus maybe you need to polish cylinders if their surface not ideal. There are nothing difficult in fixing hydraulic brakes.
Christiaan
Can you sent the levers to a Shimano service centre for repair?
isitafox
CriminalRider if it were that simple then people would have been doing it for years. Christiaan nope you can't.

*gentlydoesit
Why is a saint seal sooo special?
N.Wood
Could you run a cheap deore or whatever lever instead? Guess the adjustment isn't as good and likely heavier but if you're after a cheap fix?
LEON
John Shrewsbury had an slx lever (I think) on a Saint caliper on the London ride & it worked perfectly, they're not known for seal problems either.

Yes he has, he was running that setup at sheffield, and it looked to work just fine
