Accuracy of speeding guns

I feel your pain at being caught, as i'd bet the vast majority of people speed at some point, and i reckon the 70 zones are the worst for it. but, as others have said, you were caught a year ago; more fool you.

good luck with it all as potentially you could be in for 6 points, totalling 9 on your license.

my tip is to buy a car not capable of gathering any speed.....

A speed awareness course is an alternative to prosecution, so once the course is (successfully) completed, that is the end of that. Points that would have been accrued instead of the course cannot therefore then be added afterwards.

The guidelines state the threshold to start prosecution is 10% +2mph (35 in a 30, 46 in a 40 etc)...although technically 0.5mph over the limit is still speeding, and you can still be prosecuted.

The 10% +9mph is the limit to when an awareness course is offered, any higher and it is straight to prosecution.

Because he doesn't have speed limits on the isle of man.

Ding ding ding. Well, there are speed limits, there's just no base limit, so in general you get bits of 50 and 60mph and anything above that is just free reign. And in fairness, we've got some shocking roads here but there's plenty of room where >70mph is perfectly safe and that's the case in the UK as well. I can understand busy motorways having a limit, but there's a lot of wasted road in the UK!

I think there are too many idiots that would spoil it though.
