Dazza1414
Hi everybody, I've got a hope mono trial front brake and not long ago I fitted new pads, I rode it for a bit and they seemed to be pretty good. The bike has now been sat unused for a while and I went to move it today and noticed the front brake has developed a sqealling noise. Can anybody explain why this is and suggest a way I can sort the issue. cheers Daz Edited April 17, 2014 by Dazza1414
dezmtber
Does it still have the same power? mine sqeak from time to time without loss of power. if its a really loud honk with no power its possibly oil on the pads/rotor or glazed pads/rotor issues
Dazza1414
I'm still bedding the pads in so it's not at full power. The squeal only occurs really when I push it forward or roll slowly, doesn't really make a noise when under load.
dngr2self
It could be be just the pads rubbing slightly.
Dazza1414
just seemed a bit strange that it was all set up fine and after being sat it's started to make a noise
dngr2self
Have you taken the wheel out since you last used it?
dezmtber
Is one of the pads draging or are both the the pads touching the rotor when the brake is off

Ross McArthur
Meh, maybe. Best bet would be to go out with a scooshy sports water bottle with cold water. Go around dabbing the brake pads on and off for a while till they heat up then spray some water on to cool them down.. DO this a few times and the pads should be bedded in. I used to hold the lever in continuously and drag slightly to bed in but that seemed to glaze the pads too much Edited April 18, 2014 by Ross McArthur
