Weird lightbulbs... Help!

Last year I bought Sheryl an illuminated make up mirror that has 4 lights around it. The bulbs are marked up 4.8VO 35A and they look like these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pre-Focus-Bulb-Clear-Various-Voltages-310F-/151243685619?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item2336d37ef3

Where the eBay ones state 500mA, I assume they won't work correctly?

Any help is appreciated :)

If you could get a pic of the bulb... does the plug have a transformer?

I got one of those mirrors for my missus, the bulbs were daylight bulbs and ran off a small transformer, fairly high wattage as I recall. They were available at the time, if its the same thing dude I'll look back and see where we got them from.

It should be the right track, as in transformed circuits you can have really large currents at low voltage, so yes in that case 35A seems reasonable, whereas a .35A bulb would just die in no time

35A is pretty crazy, I don't think there are many filament lamps that run 35A. I think you may have misunderstood the purpose of the transformer in a lighting circuit.

well, if you would transform a 230V to 4.8V you would have 48A on the secondary circuit.....but I might mix something, we just started to learn about transformers :$

but yeah, that is the reason why I thought first that it is lower, my xbox fans run on 2.04A and they can float themselves....

I doubt they were 35a! they were highish wattage daylight bulbs though. Either way the tranny powered them for sure.
