wilf
In need of some advice on 26" rims. My mate needs a new one after he pringled his Trialtech Square Holed one yesterday. Looking to spend £40-£50 on a new one so most rims are being considered. I was thinking of the Sport Lite, he's against Trialtech now but I've heard good things about the Sport Lite and its at a decent price. Can anyone tell me the difference between the older Square Holed rim and the Sport Lite, I assume its stronger but I'd just like to check. AdamR28
They are the same rim, both good. How did the last one get killed?
wilf
Ahh damn okay, not sure if you can view this video but this is how: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=757273300951810&set=vb.100000074416276&type=2&theater Fair heavy landing but shouldn't of bent it as much as it did! wilf
Anyone recommend a single wall rim stronger than a Sport Lite?
N.Wood
Rim is only as strong as the wheel build. Also a fair bit of sideways force applied there by the looks of it. I'd say go for the trialtech.
wilf
Thats what I've been saying. Trialtech aren't weak by any means, I think he should get another but get a built as strong as possible.
isitafox
I built that last one though the rim was bent to f**k when I started. Ended up doing it twice as the first time I just couldn't get it straight!
wilf
Ahh right, well with a brand new rim we should be able to get it a fair bit stronger!
N.Wood
If this is a one off occurance I'd blame the build / spoke tension and / or a knackered rim. If not, he might be wanting to look at a double walled, beefier rim.
wilf
Okay cheers dude. Yeah I'm not doubting Dave's wheel building abilities, think the rim was to blame haha.
