benv
hi, has anyone seen the inspired skye on pinkbike ? its advertised as a 2014 pro, 2 months old. kid says it was his friends but e doesn't have receipt for warranty etc, also looking at pics it has the atomlabs and hope kit which makes it the skye team doesn't it ? his join date was when the advert started. is it just me or does this seem a bit dodgy, he will take £700 for a £2500 bike that's 2 months old, no receipts and for sale as not used as much as I thought I would.... benv
I don't know how to link on my phone, just go on pinkbike and in the trials bikes it's second page. That's what I was thinkingIf something sounds to good to be true it usually is, that's what I've always been told
CalopS
http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1532900/?directtofirstphoto&directtofirstphoto I don't know anyone from York besides Danny Garland that rides trials. David Logan from Leeds used to have a Skye. I'll ask if he sold it to someone from York for you.
benv
he says its only 2 months old an it was his mates. 2 owners in 2 months not bad but maybe worth asking cheers. just seen it on gumtree as well advertised as a mountain bike is it just me or does it look like a team and not a pro ? Paperclip
Yeah it's Daves old bike for sure with the leaking rear brake. His friend was saying it didn't go that far when he sold it. If you was still unsure just ask him to take a picture of some random part of the bike just so you know it is in his possession and you can pay via paypal and have a abit of protection. I once got asked to write my name and the buyers name on a piece of paper and place it in the spokes of a wheel before they bought it haha. benv
I'd collect if I wanted it, is it a team do you know ? Is £700 to cheap for it ? I paid that for a 2012 fourplay but it was in excellent condition with some good parts on it
Sam Nichols
The price he is asking for it is sooooooo cheap! It's an absolute steal.
Mark W
It's the first generation Skye, from before they did Pro/Team versions.
Sam Nichols
I was just gonna say it's what mine used to look like before I murdered it.
Paperclip
I think wrapping the brake cables around the bike like a total BELL-END devalues bikes by alot!
benv
ha ha, whats the difference between the first gen and the others ?
monkeyseemonkeydo
Yeah it's Daves old bike for sure with the leaking rear brake. His friend was saying it didn't go that far when he sold it. Nah, it's not his (well the pictures might be but the bike, if it exists, won't be)- I bought that and have since sold the frame kit to a dude in Poland. benv
What's that one worth do you think ? Also is it alot better than the fourplay ?
monkeyseemonkeydo
What's that one worth do you think ? Also is it alot better than the fourplay ? Well I paid £1200 for the complete one from Dave and although I possibly paid a little over the odds (these things were like hens teeth until the Arcade came out so I jumped on it when I could) that looks almost new so he should be asking for over £1000 and more likely £1200+ for it... Greetings
Considering it's such a bargain and could be dodgey, why not just go and collect it in person? It's not like you're going on an epic journey across the whole continent. He actually mentions local pickup only... so he'd have to be pretty dumb if this was to be a scam. Sam Nichols
Worse case scenario: him and his mates jump you, steel the cash, nick your shoes and shank you. What have you got to lose?!
Ross McArthur
Is a shank the same as a crank?
Sam Nichols
Yes, except instead of paint or anodising it has a layer of decorative Lamb.
CalopS
Could be mine but I think mine went to Wales. Bit weird reckon it looks nicked haha From Dave.
benv
Definitely considering it, just trying to make sure it's worth a jump from the fourplay as I'm not very experienced
monkeyseemonkeydo
How tall are you? From Dave. Nope, it went to Dorset via eBay.
benv
6'1. I've just put arcade bars on the fourplay and it's feels really good
monkeyseemonkeydo
I reckon you'd feel cramped on the Skye... That was one of the main reasons I got rid of mine- they're awesome bikes but designed for Danny who's about 5' 6" and for any normal sized person (I'm about 5' 10"/11" or so) it's seriously short!
