HippY
Hello guys, i am going to run double discs on my new bike, and I can ride discs at 200mm diameter My problem at the moment are adapters. My front brake (avid juicy 3) has post mount, at the moment has IS to post 160mm kit Rear is a Echo TR caliber, that is IS so I would need an Is to Is adapter So far I have only seen +40 hope adapter for the rear and +20 IS to Post adapters on the front I have Trialtech forks that is +20 by itself with no adaptor My questions: Could you offer me a +23 IS to Post mount? and +43mm Is to IS? Are the Hope trial discs any good? Is there a difference between Post to IS and Is to post mounts?

Just put a few washers in between the mount and the brake caliper to lift it up the extra few mm and +43mm Is to IS? No but you can get +40 IS to IS Are the Hope trial discs any good? Yes, as long as the caliper/pads you are using matches up to the depth of the braking surface Is there a difference between Post to IS and Is to post mounts? Yes, post to IS converts a post mount frame or fork to accept an IS caliper, IS to post converts an IS mount frame or fork to accept a post mount brake like a Shimano, Hope Trialzone, etc... Off topic, I completely forgot to dig that seat out, will do it tonight
HippY
Off topic, I completely forgot to dig that seat out, will do it tonight okay thank you! Okay, so I will run the Hope 200 disc with +40 adaptor on the rear How could I check the depth of my braking surface? Okay, I might run a cheaper 203 on the front okay, now the mounts are clear, I thought they are reversible
isitafox
The brake surface is pretty much the depth of the pad. Echo brakes use the same pads as Hope Mono's so that will be fine with a Hope rotor though the Avid discs tend to have a lot shorter a brake surface so wouldn't be as effective. isitafox
Hope disc would be no good with a Shimano brake either, Shimano discs tend to work best with there own brakes.

Is it important to be a flaoting disc or the solid will suit as well like RT66? as far as I remember from by motorbike times, you need either the pads or the disc floating
isitafox
Doesn't have to be floating, that's purely down to personal preference.
HippY
Can I use 203mm discs with a 185mm adapter (+20mm fork)?
isitafox
Yes, will be just slightly out but shouldn't affect the brake too much if at all
