New to the trials

Hi, having wanted to get into trials for a little time now I thought i'd sort myself out and start looking into it properly.

I'm living in Leeds and would love to meet up and have a go or get some more information.

Also

I guess I will need a bike. I have read the thread on beginner bikes and agree with it - it's always best to get what you can afford. I am not sure, however what good prices for certain bikes are. I also don't know what bike is right for me but i'm sure a few bikes down the line i'll have an idea - hopefully.

From what I can figure getting a bike that's basically as light and durable as I can afford is the way to go.

But

What are the major differences in tyre size and length of frame (I am not new to bikes just trials) with regards to trial riding, I would imagine I will mostly be learning how to get up on the back wheel and hop for a couple of months with the odd jump off a rock at first so saying that a 26 is better for gaps or thin rails or that a 26 will get you about a foot higher than a 20 may not be of consequence to me at the minute, however, it may as I just don't know. Which is a top reason why I am here, also to meet people and ride.

Okay.

When I was a kid rode the typical MTB messing around, nothing serious or with any sort of goal other than just cycling around, pulling skids and playing tig and the like - -ah the days.

Ridden a lot of BMX dirt when I was a teenager since then (28 now) ridden mostly mountain bike XC and road cycle touring.

Why would it play a part by the way? Due to what I am used to?

If you ride a lot of bmx you might be better on a 20" (mod), if you did a bit of street riding a 24" might be your thing or if like you said you've done a lot of mtb then a 26" (stock) will probably feel most comfortable to get started on.

Hey Dan!!

How was your session the other day?

Was nice to meet you, cheers for the information. Pretty excited about getting up and trialing.

I was hoping you'd make a post :)

Yeah it was great cheers dude, great to be back on a good ride again.

How was your trip down to London? You'll have to message me on here if you wanted to meet up and go for a ride some time, could maybe show you a few hints and tips etc :)
