Does anyone know what gear ratio danny runs? and what length cranks?

Think he runs 22:16 with 175's...

Epic. Can't wait for the outtakes video ;-)

I don't know if there'll be an outtakes video, but we've definitely got some other footage that might end up somewhere!

:ban:

Dude - I grew up in a field in Wales, getting videos like that wasn't an option :P

This is why they couldn't view it on mobile devices on the Youtube upload. Tl;dr version: Sketchy f**kers claim copyright ownership of songs they don't own, you can't do anything about it, they don't allow it to be viewed on mobile.

I quite like getting DVDs still, hence I've bought most of the recent BMX releases and am hoping to pick up a copy of Any Which Way on DVD when I get round to going to Crucial next. However, with the way people are online now I can't really see anyone in the trials world wanting to pay for anything - there's definitely a sense of people expecting to just be given stuff and I don't think that's necessarily going to change. That said, people always used to phone up and ask for DVDs with Danny on, but I think they'd be expecting a DVD to Imaginate/Way Back Home standard rather than me f**king around.

I disagree, after watching GET2 again the other day I'd love someone (yourself or Nick) to put a new trials DVD together.

A proper 24 tour dvd would be awesome but instead of doing it over a week spread it out over a few months so everyone (or as many as possible) will be free to ride and get loads of footage.

Dvds do ooze quality though. Higher res, better sound.

They're actually much lower res technically. When I looked into producing a DVD from the TartyDays footage you have to f**k around downsizing everything/converting it to a shit frame rate. I found a couple of pieces of software that did an OK job of it, but I got massively shafted by filming in 60fps which full-bore hates going into 23.967fps or whatever DVDs are. The only way you can keep the footage HD is to put it on a Blu-ray disc, otherwise you've got to get all SD with it. Maybe I just need to send Dave Sowerby a pleading e-mail and ask him how he manages to make the BSD DVDs look so good :P

I think it's f**king disgraceful that you haven't produced a Clean DVD yet. It's an outrage.

Effort + ballache + no-one wanting to pay for stuff they could otherwise get for free = no dice. I wanted to do one along with a print 'zine, but I think the print thing's going to be much more viable (even if it's just printed in super low numbers).

It's only actually a compression, while i know little about producing the dvd, i know that when uncompressing you get SD footage looking pretty stunning on a tv. Better than HD youtube footage. I'm not sure how the upscaling dvd players work, but it's most likely just uncompressing the image too as that would make sense. As for the sound, the same probably applies, it's just compression rather than a downgrade.

I therefore forward my dvd= quality statement back at you.

The quality on a DVD is SD due to the space on the disk. Upscaling DVDs aren't magic, they can't create quality that has been taken away to fit it on a disk. Essentially they're just fading the gaps created by making the picture bigger.

Blu Ray > DVD

I'd definitely support a Clean USB stick though...

Ah, fair enough - that makes sense! I just ended up getting frustrated with it due to the massive amount of conflicting information people had put up in tutorials about trying to retain quality 'n' stuff, whilst not being able to get what I considered a good result out of it. Like I said though, what you put makes sense thinking about it (Y)

Compression isn't removing information, which mp3 does do (remove information i mean), Grandad :P
