benv
Now I've changed the brakes from slx to zee's and new discs I'm happy with the bike apart from want to change rims. Quick spec is 2012 fourplay, team forks, hope tech evo hubs, Trials rear. Hope bb and headset. Slx cranks, Inspired riser bars, trial tech stem. The rims are pimplites in white, look nice but very thin. Could I just buy rims and use same hubs and spokes? Or would new spokes be needed? Trying not to spend a fortune as just bought the new brakes
HippY
you can use the same hubs, if you choose rims with same amount of holes You will need new spokes probably if you are going to choose a different rim, if the size is different But why would you? If they are light and they work for you and dont break, I see no reason to change them :/ Personally I found that I get better if I spend time more about riding than spend money on the bike. And after I get better I tend to not change, just set something, or change a different part that helps my riding
benv
They seem slightly untrue now, kid I bought the bike of said they were as strong as anything. It's not an immediate change, it's just something I'm looking at if they turn out to be to thin/ weak

benv
I've found a place in Cardiff with macaskill edition ones for £49.99 each. They build wheel sets also. I've just emailed to see how much to build wheels onto my hubs.
benv
If I was to keep the pimplites for a while, what would be the best / strongest tyres for them?? The toga powerblocks that are on now seem very weak especially on side walls

benv
Are they the strongest on sidewalls? I've read good reviews on these tiogas but apparently get a lot of pinches as so thin side walls? What do you think to the holly roller on the pimplites? Still not sure wider rims would be a lot better or just try tyres
isitafox
Get a pair of wide holy rollers on there first, its cheaper than getting two new wheels built up.
benv
Sounds good idea, was just checking with holy rollers though as read reviews saying they get pinch flats easy
isitafox
If they're getting pinched then they're not pumped up enough!
benv
Cool, how wide will the pimplites take?

niconj
Just get the HighRollers.
benv
I prob will, just local bike shop just recommended the crazy bobs as very strong side wall and tread virtually all round
JDâ„¢
Is your local bike shop full of people who ride street trials bikes, like this topic is?
benv
No, only one lad. He wasn't saying don't get holy rollers. He was just saying he thought on the pimplites being so narrow the crazy bob would be stronger. I'm still leaning towards holy rollers but was just asking as like you said it's full of riders on here
