brisa911
Hi, I'm doing up my bike that I haven't ridden for 8 years or so. It's an echo es4 and I'm using a D521 rim so my magura pads never used to reach the rim so I used to make some and glued some plazmatic pads onto the base of some black ones. Is there a pad on the market that will save me doing that again? What's the best magura pads these days anyway? Cheers
LEON
Nope, that frame was just designed for a trials rim, and a D521 is 28mm, that's pretty much XC by today's trials standard, or even 10+ years ago. You're gonna need a bigger rim! Your mod sounds dangerous too. Edited January 29, 2014 by LEON
dave33
what about the 'real' coust they are alot taller than most and pretty good to, and i can only imagine they would be even better on a ground D521http://amg-bikes.com/en/rim-brakes-pads/66-rim-brake-pads-coustellier.html Edited January 29, 2014 by dave33
J.KYDD
Offset brake mounts and a set of fresh Cousts should set you up http://www.trialsaddict.com/brake-clamps/tensile-offset-brake-clamps.html http://www.trialsaddict.com/special-offers/the-french-coust.html
Blake
Offset clamps won't help x
LEON
Offset mounts only work for moving slaves out, not in.
dave33
Offset mounts only work for moving slaves out, not in. I wouldnt recommend them to any one as I found them shit, they tend to move now and again due to the area being clamped is off set so less clamping pressure there. LEON
Didn't think of that! They're a nice idea but they don't really seem to be much use. Any rim of about 35mm+ should sort you out.

Surely you should know that a D521 was considered a fantastic trials rim 10+ years ago I love this thread, sure takes me back.
LEON
It was! I loved them, but Mavic wouldn't get with the times so we all had to move on. Imagine a 40mm D521. You wouldn't get a stronger rim! These days it's still stronger than most, but sadly narrower than all

Did you file down the little lips on them? makes them grip a bit better
