dann2707
Right. Haven't really done much due to uni and job interviews etc. Here is the wheel. I decided I don't want the red nipples, so starting to dismantle the wheel! Also the rotor bolts are minging, so they're going to be replaced with some new black ones I have lying around. Not sure where they came from but yay The nipples collected. And the wheel de-built. Going to clean the hub up too as it's awfully filthy. Starting to collect all the bits in my tub. And the rotor will be cleaned too. Pedals thanks to Neon-trials, thanks dude! And the rawed forks, still got a few bits to do and going to do the steerer too so that will come at a later date Rawed the stem too. The bars look shocking, stickers coming off so they'll be cleaned up too with some wirewool et. al And finally the collection of parts, taking up a decent amount of space in the bedroom lol More to come soon

Jake.
You're one of very few who would rebuild a perfectly good wheel to clean a hub and change the colour of the nipples.

dann2707
Stripped some parts tonight and cleaned lots up. Drying on the rad. Rawed the lever blade and cleaned up the maggy. It's starting to crack in the classic place so i'll grind that off soon. Also a massive masssssive thanks to Neil for giving me these parts as I was bash ring less. And the echo washers will look perfect when it's finished. The parts collected. Cleaned etc Clean spokes! And consequently a clean rim haha Rawed the forks more but they're so f**king tough, very thick anodising Then started to lace the wheel, which went okay. But I can't true it for shit and it's so wobbly haha. Need help! My frame is with the painters now who charged me £5 to leave it in their acid bath tonight so it will be rawed tomorrow. dann2707
Are you doing the good old pencil elastic banded to the fork leg technique?? Nope didn't do this. Got it sorted in the end, just made sure I tightened every nipple the same amount. Just needs properly truing now! Not sure how to do this. But at least it's not egg shaped or anything yay. Just want to say i love your build threads With all the pics and details of what you do -Inspires me to do the same--New build thread from me tomorrow me thinks -Cant wait to see this beast when its done Top job Dan Thanks a lot mate, means a lot to hear those sorts of comments Should be picking up the frame tomorrow and build it all back up. Not sure whether to polish it or not. Hmmmm
niconj
Not sure how to do this. What tools do you have at hand? Just go on with tightening the nipples the same amount. Go around the wheel and turn them 1/2 turn each and keep going until you reach a good spoke tension. You might use 1/4 turns or even 1/8 ones then. I always tighten the drive side on the rear and the disc side (if it's a disc wheel) on the front first to the maximum spoke tension that is allowed by the manufacturer*. Then pull it in the middle with the other side. *obviously after having reached a certain spoke tension already on the entire wheel Edited February 16, 2014 by niconj
dann2707
I think because it'sradial on one side itDiDidn't tension correctly. Had to dish one side which I learned how to do today. Still not perfect though. Shouldn't matter too much though as it's a disc wheel.
