Scott Gibbs
Any advice for brakeless manuals?
PatJsy
Any advice for brakeless manuals? Find an empty car park and just practise, same as hang 5s and any other balance based trick. I don't think brakes make much of a difference, it's all about putting the hours in!

Scott Gibbs
Been practicing I get to balance point and just freeze like a dead sailor!! I know it's a trials forum just knew there were a few riders on here that ride bmx, I'm on bmx forum but it's like a ghost town on there most of the time
PatJsy
It's all about relaxing, if you think about when you walk along a thin ledge or something like that you find your balance almost automatically - you don't really think about it. Manuals are the same, if you just relax you'll end up balancing without really thinking about it. Car park spaces are the best - set yourself a target each day and spend a solid half an hour or so just practising.
Blake
its Trials forum not bmx forum.... just sayin That's why it's in bike chat you potato. Any advice for brakeless manuals? On a bmx, don't lean back to much, there isn't the need like on a trials bike. Just pull up and lean back slightly. Be prepared to jump off if need be.
Topsy
For manuals I try to keep my bum as low as possible withmy my arms near horizontal.. But I must say that I practiced them on my Inspired (just stopped touching the brake) and when I managed to get them down on that one I started doing them on the BMX. Needs much less strength to get up into it. Found it helpful to practice on a tiny slope, just enough to keep you rolling at the same speed (i.e barely any decline). And well, obviously be prepared to jump off. a lot. My bike: Finding it hard to find people that actually like it haha

weirdoku
I tried riding BMX, got no one to ride with, weather is poo and I work most of the time. Someone buy this thing off me?
Lord Banks
With manuals try to keep you legs bent, arse over the rear axle and aim for something, relax your arms and use you legs to adjust your balance. Set-up tips....definatley brakeless, makes it more flowing and improves your riding. Get plastic pegs, much lighter but much better for grinding too, try Butcher Pegs, bit pricey but worth it. Get at least 100psi in your tires and get in some skatepark sessions.

Scott Gibbs
Taken the gyro and steel pegs off now! Gunna order some butcher pegs when I get paid and put the Éclat tyres back on not overly impressed with the Momentums.

eskimo
What's a good high pressure tyre? Like the look of the demolition momentum tyre Grifter. Them Demo tyres blow out real easy. Not surprised you don't like them, mine came of my bike pretty sharpish.
Scott Gibbs
Grifter. Them Demo tyres blow out real easy. Not surprised you don't like them, mine came of my bike pretty sharpish. Yeah only been built up a week and I've had a blow out! Read up on the grifters and nobody seems to have a bad thing to say about them. Pretty cheap too! Want try shed some weight off it too so any way of doing that would be appreciated.
eskimo
Frame, fork, bars will save the most. Equally tires will do a considerable amount. The rest of the bike won't shred that much weight. Either because the parts are so small or in centralised places. Grifters are good. Most people don't run them because of the name. But i've had more success with them than any other tyre.
Scott Gibbs
I'd heard the Demo's were light but looking at the Grifters not so much! I shed well over 0.6kg losing the pegs and gyro. Which frame/fork/bars are pretty light? My frame is 2.2kg is that light?
Jake.
I want to get back into BMX again. I also want a jump bike. How doable is Park riding on a jump bike? Is 24" or 26" better?
Scott Gibbs
NS bikes Capital looks a good bet for park/street and dirt they are 24/26 specific looks a nice cross between bmx and mtb

Very doable! 24"s easier to flick around but Ive seen people do very impressive stuff on a 26" riding park.
