Blake
Anyone tried 18-13 on a 24? I'm finding the 18-14 a teeny bit too light, even with 165 cranks. Feel I can't get enough power in with the bigger gaps sometimes
CalopS
I ran 18/13 on my Inspired mk1 with 175mm cranks which I felt was trialsy. Wanted to go to a 12.
Jake.
I was thinking of going 18-14 on my stock too. I'm on 18-16 at the moment since my other sprocket broke, gaps don't seem to have been hindered though. It's all technique really. For example look at how far craig lee scott can gap and he's like a stick.

"I want to run a 13t sprocket, someone tell me it's good and I'll do it."So just do it
trials hoe
14 is a teeny bit light (with 170mnm cranks) on the because, ran a 13 (165s) on the effect I had and it was too heavy to do hoppy stuff with but perfect for rolling stuff. Eyeing some 160mm cranks myself...

Pete.M
18-13 works fine for me.
harmertrials
I ran 18-15 on the radix, 18-14 previously. Honestly could barely tell a difference

marko
18-13 with 175mm cranks on my onza zoot. Much better than 18-14 considering it's a street trials bike. 18-12 would be too much for pedal kicking...
Mark W
Not necessarily. The Arcade has 22:15 which is pretty much the same as 18:12. Gapping feels a little different at first but you just have to adapt how you follow through the kick. That said, I've always run hard ratios so I'm kind of used to that. Yorkshire Dale
For example look at how far craig lee scott can gap and he's like a stick. How as him being stick thin got anything to do with gear ratio??? Edited January 16, 2014 by Yorkshire Dale
Blake
I'm built like a stick as well and can gap pretty far(ish), it just feels a little uncomfortable riding distances with this ratio.

Blake
16-12 ***. Puts more stress on your chain and can cause easier snaps, I do like the look of the smaller cogs though.
ogre
meh, 20" riders have been running 12t since FFW became the norm, chain snaps are no more frequent for 20s than 24 or 26, i ran 16-12 for a year and used a cheap halfords bmx chain the whole time, my zoot snapped before the chain... so i wouldn't be to put off by that notion. and yes, smaller cogs look f**king awesome. Jake.
How as him being stick thin got anything to do with gear ratio??? Cause George is like a stick too, most people would think you have to have a strong body build to run a heavier ratio. Edited January 16, 2014 by Jake.
