MadManMike
It's this model: I'm looking to get some suspension for it, 100mm travel. Not sure what forks will fit, can anyone give me some guidance? Cheers! Oh and it's a 24", so I'm not sure what options I have in terms of using my current V brakes - I guess most forks are for 26" wheels? MadManMike
Ignore the V brake question, I'm just gonna buy a front disc. Suggestions on forks welcomed though!
ZeroMatt
If it's exactly the same model/year as the image posted; those forks are ~440mm a-c and the hub is cup and cone with 10mm axle. That could be problematic. Most DJ forks use a 20mm through-axle these days, even if you can find a QR fork I don't think a solid 10mm cup and cone axle will fit. CurtisRider
Just file 2 flat surfaces on the front axle so it fits into a 9mm dropout, done it a few times
MadManMike
That is exactly the same year / model. I'm looking at older QR forks, as my budget is low. So it's a case of the actual QR skewer won't fit in the forks unless filed down? Not a huge issue, but does filing it down not take some strength away? CurtisRider
Well you have a 10mm nutted axle and suspension forks will need a 9mm axle. I've not had any issues removing the material, it's basically just where the threads are as you only lose 0.5mm each side.
bing
I had one of these, I had 100mm travel dirt jam pros on the front of mine, and ran hydro disk. The forks are 14mm with reducer washers so the 9 mm axle will go straight in without having to file it down.
