Trialtech
In September the Trialtech team were in Antwerp to compete in the final round of the UCI Trials World Cup, organised by team rider Kenny Belaey, and we went along with Mark Westlake to film them in action. Part 1 of our two-part Trialtech in Antwerp video is out now and features Rick Koekoek, Vasek Kolar and Extreme Bike Sports riders Dominik Oswald and Thomas and Matthias Mrohs riding in the 20" and 26" Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals. Join the rest of the team in Part 2, coming soon!

monkeyseemonkeydo
It looks suspiciously like Vasek was 'having fun'... I bet they didn't like that!! Very nice vid ad some awesome riding.
Ross McArthur
Can't wait for the rest! I hope Kenny features in part two. Was good watching a comp video with riders who don't have the Carthy bar angle.
Sam Nichols
Nicely done, Mark. I watched the whole thing... Out of interest is Vasek's tomfoolery well received by the more traditional comp riders and/or the comp officials?
Mark W
Can't wait for the rest! I hope Kenny features in part two. Was good watching a comp video with riders who don't have the Carthy bar angle. Part 2 is going to be about 70-80% Kenny from the looks of things. He's got such a good style... Sam - I doubt observers mind, and I'm not sure how much other riders really see what he does. Everyone's usually doing their own thing. For example the 360 he did was at the end of the day and no other riders were by those 2 sections.
Sam T
That was good! Different to other comp videos which was nice.

bing
Nicely done, Mark. I watched the whole thing... Out of interest is Vasek's tomfoolery well received by the more traditional comp riders and/or the comp officials? There needs to be more riders like him who have fun and do well at the same time, plus everybody likes a show off. It's a bit too serious sometimes. And yeah +1 on the bar angle thing Edited January 5, 2014 by bing
Mark W
Vasha did lighten things up a bit, but I guess I can see why most riders don't do stuff like that (although Kenny did do a fakie drop off in the wooden balance beam section which was f**king ridiculous - in part 2...). It's pretty expensive to go and ride at a World Cup so most riders who go there will want to get the best result they can, so jeopardising things by doing tricks and stuff might be a risk they don't want to necessarily take.
shercofray
I don't really follow the results for the World Cup, how does Vasha get on?
Mark W
Can't remember where he finished for the Antwerp round, but he hasn't done that many UCIs before that I know of. I think for 2014 he's planning on doing more of them. BIU's the hot shit in the Czech Republic so he usually does those rounds rather than UCIs, I think...
Yorkshire Dale
Is it bad that its now got to the point where 20" bikes look more comfortable on 2 wheels than 26"? Really enjoyed that its awesome to see someone just turning up and having fun. I get why riders take it seriously its just refreshing to see in a worlds video

He had some problems with his back after tweaking it in the qualifiers though, and finished much higher in the World Cups he did (while still busting out one-handers and crank flips), so I'm pretty sure we can expect some good results from him in 2014
