aener
So there's usually a "New Year's Resolutions" topic on here at this time of the year. There isn't one yet, which is unusual, but perhaps it's just a late bloomer. Anyway - this is the opposite. People always talk enthusiastically about what they're going to do in the new year and over-congratulate each other on how much they wish they could be like each other, but no-one ever gets any credit for sticking it out. Almost all of said resolutions are dead and buried by March, so it's a shame the people who actually meant it don't get any recognition over the posers. Post in here if you made a resolution at the start of the year, and actually stuck to it! I'm a believer that resolutions should be made at any time the desire to do something arises, but this idea only struck me at the very time I was considering how stupid the whole "New Year" element is, so it timed up perfectly as a result I have only ever made two New Year's Resolutions. One, around six years ago, was 1280x1024 (which lasted the full year, but not much more) - the other was as follows: I was getting bored of riding the same old places, so made the decision that I would ride an average of one town/city/distinct riding location per week. I've actually exceeded that. I got something closer to 60, but some of them were either so shit, or such half-arsed attempts that I didn't dare consider them as valid. There were periods when I forgot to add places to the map, so dates with question marks are from when I rode there but didn't fill it in until much later and forgot when I went. I have ridden several of these places many times, and many of them more than once during the year. The dates correspond only to the first time I went there this year. Moving back to the north of the country half way through the year helped an AWFUL lot https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=204621622610177772675.0004d2ee55a328d37268e&msa=
Mikee
I have only really made (and actually stuck to) one new years resolution, quitting smoking at 2010. For 2014 I have a few lined up that I very much intend to achieve.
JD™
Kudos on achieving yours Flipp. I stopped making resolutions years ago for similar reasons, but looking back I've achieved a very important one this year in terms of calming down a lot in various aspects that were derogatory to me finding real happiness. I know that sounds really cliche and shit, but it's definitely helped and resulted in a nice home, and engagement to a perfect woman. *gentlydoesit
Na, no resolutions here, maybe quit smoking... doubt that'll last. Just zoomed in on the birmingham marker, did you just prod birmingham on the map or were you actually in that spot? Because I have no clue what the hell you were riding there
thinkdougie
I made one to get better on my bike and ride as much as possible. Definitely happened for me this year, 2013 has been a great on the bicycle.
valk
I made mine half way through the year but here they are. -Get into the gym to improve my health (led me into starting bodybuilding) -Eat cleaner (also to improve health). -Save some money to get a new car. -Learn about SEO and start working/entrepreneuring in it. -Reading a lot more poker books. -Riding more than 1 hour (average) a day. All of them achieved and going strong Na, no resolutions here, maybe quit smoking... doubt that'll last. Just zoomed in on the birmingham marker, did you just prod birmingham on the map or were you actually in that spot? Because I have no clue what the hell you were riding there Use google street view, there's a wall there with some funny rails and another wall nearby. isitafox
I think I made a riding resolution but then breaking my ankle in March kind of ended that idea and then since I haven't had a proper bike I felt comfortable on available for much longer than a month at a time. I do have a resolution for next year to do with riding but I'm gonna keep it to myself in the hope I can see it through.
FamilyBiker
i didnt make resolutions for the new year since ages,i figured out for me it has the opposite effect, something inside me is fighting against it if you havent got the will to change something you wont, simples.to fix that to a date makes you only having a bad mood if you didnt make it. I was the same, it was to win the novice category at tyketrials, I was in the lead after 2 events, then I broke my ankle. Same situation as you pal. It's only these last 2 months I've had a bike I feel truly comfortable on, and feel like I want to ride
fruitbat
Made a New Years Resolution many years ago, and that was to never make a New Years Resolution again, and I have stuck to it. Any changes I want to make I make at any time of the year, as I know making them just because it's New Year will mean they are probably destined to fail. My real 'resolution' started in March, when I was 245lbs (17.5stone ) and in the worst shape of my life, took control and shed some lbs (46 of the flabby buggers to be precise), built the trials bike back up, did a 10K in November and have 3 more 10Ks and (hopefully) a tough mudder planned in 2014! That was because I needed to and wanted to do it, not because it was a New Year or anything. And I have purposefully re-started my training today after 6 weeks off to avoid it being a New Year start.
MadManMike
I got tired of not sticking to resolutions, so mine last year was to not make one again. So far I'm achieving it.

isitafox
How long before the bike breaks down or you injure yourself? After reading your previous posts I'm pretty sure God does not want you riding a motorcycle!
