Theo Sanders
Hi guys, Tried out riding brakeless in the backyard tonight (without taking the brakes off yet, just not using them), and I really loved it! I guess I'll be getting a separate mod so that I can ride both with and without breaks and not wasting a lot of time on changing the setup. Does anyone have any tips or advice on what bike to get (a complete probably) and on the setup such as tyre pressure etc? Thanks in advance, Theo
CalopS
I'd just advise you to get strong stuff and have higher pressures for landing gaps to 90 and enjoy it
JD™
First tip is to actually take your brakes off But yea, after that it's all about learning how to stop comfortably using the terrain available, enjoy!

Theo Sanders
I guess I've seen al of these and some more, too. But it's kind of hard to learn with just watching how they do stuff and no explanation/tutorials etc.
TriаlsRider
Hah, you think these riders watched tutorials? Just ride more and use your brain - this is all the secret. No need of explanations more than videos(try watching it slomo if you can't get something).

Ash-Kennard
No way, not me at least this is what i meant either way, I tried brakeless for a while, you do get used to not having the brakes, but i will always be a fan of brakes. and do not intend to try it again. but it is definitely a good idea to give it a try. never know you may love it

Mark W
Hah, you think these riders watched tutorials? I got into trials by watching this: I'd have been f**ked without it. As a result, my advice would be to watch this religiously: Then wait around 9 years to take them off

Thanks in advance, Theo steel frame, you need to feel everything and you get more feel with steel than ali, if that makes sense..
Mark W
Rowan made one of the best brakeless videos ever on an aluminium frame. It doesn't have to be steel.
Miss-Higgy
I agree with mark I ride a mk1 element brakeless and thats alloy, my previous mod was also alloy & brakeless.. So thats that one out the window I'm afraid.
aener
People who don't ride brakeless advising people how to ride brakeless and why you need what is a bad thing. (Most of them, anyway.) The biggest tip I can give is that you should absolutely learn to gap to 90 and go up to 90 in both directions. I didn't, and it's a constant source of embarrassment when someone suggests a line that looks really fun, but I can't do it because it's my "bad way". If you do it right from the start, it'll be normal to you, and will open up a huge number of lines in the long run! (Having a favoured way is fine - just don't neglect the other way.) Other than that, it's mostly been said: firmer tyres, concentrate on getting strong parts rather than light ones (because you WILL break them), and have fun with it. Don't take any instructions anyone gives you too seriously, 'cause from my experience everyone has quite different methods other peoples' just don't work for them. Sometimes their way might suit you too, so listen to their advice - but don't feel obliged to adhere to it
