N.Wood
Repair looks almost factory standard. Not that it changes anything, but looks like whoever did it did a good job.
isitafox
That's the thing, if he'd just owned up and told me how it happened and who repaired it it wouldn't be half as bad but the fact him and his mate swore blind they knew nothing about it and hadn't seen it themselves really really f**ked me off. Paperclip
Does he not live close to you then? You would have to be quite the spastic to not see a random weld around your head tube area (with the exception of a new rider) especially if the above picture was a different frame. It's pretty lame to come into threads like this and read things like this, Luke Rainbird did a swap a month or so back and had problems from the other side too. too late to say and be that guy now but swaps with people you do not know/trust need to be warned against on the forum in my opinion or banned altogether as unlike using paypal you are just left with next to no comeback Edited December 30, 2013 by Seabasss
isitafox
Fully agree, won't be doing it again and will be advising others not to trade either. He's been blacklisted now anyway so it should warn others off.
bing
There's no need for, this kind of behaviour, I'll come on a derby ride mate with you, but I bet the twat never comes out anymore. I'd take it back off him for you and shove that broken pure over his head
Blake
I'm a little confused about what's happened, have you traded frames with a guy for your old Marino and he's sent you a pure with a reweld on it?
isitafox
Traded full bike but we kept our own forks, bars and brakes and I went to do the swap at "his nans" house but never had a proper look round it when I picked it up as I was kind of in a rush to get there and get back home. When I found the weld I messaged him about it and he (and his mate Daz who also used his account) pleaded innocence saying he'd never seen it and knew nothing about it in all the time he owned the frame (his mate also stated he was a stand up guy and well respected round his end). I asked him where he got it from and he said a friend called Bri who's last name he didn't knew got it off the forum for him before he was a member about 5 months ago. Finished off saying the crack can't be that bad as whilst he had the frame and didn't know about the weld he snapped a set of forks hence the picture of him with the snapped forks and no repair to the frame. I think this goes to show just how stand up he is, I hope my Marino folds in half on him in a very painful way.
bing
Bad shit that dave, gutted for you after all the shit you went through trying to get your Marino made right Edited December 31, 2013 by bing
isitafox
Be reet, she may be dangerous but she will be pimp. Then I'll get a new frame and she will be, er, pimper...
isitafox
Been doing a bit of maintenance earlier and before I start let me quote a message from the sellers buddy (dazecho26 on here) from after we had swapped regarding my bike yours wasn't built amazing till we did it properly after Now, seeing as these lads are obviously more experienced and generally better at building and maintaining bikes than me I must have been mistaken at what I found and have imagined it all. Forgetting the amazing 116mm hub conversion ( ) I have so far had knackered headset bearings (the one thing he did tell me about), a tensioner bolt stuck in the frame with a snapped off bit (looks like a phillips screwdriver end) stuck in it so unremoveable, the cranks had absolutely no grease on them when I fought them off the bottom bracket, one of the bottom bracket bearings wasn't even fully fitted so the axle moved 2mm side to side and said bearing was 100% seized when I got it out, the sprocket on the cranks again was fitted with zero grease and finally considering he had the ability to move the rear sprocket with it being on a Pro 2 there's a big wear mark on the rear stay where the chain has rubbed. Anyway, I have got a few bits working until I can sort replacement and got some other bits ready to be anodised.
