persistant_itch
hey, was looking for a helmet that didn't make me look like a gimp, most helmets I wear look far too bulky on my head, and I've a fat head to start with!! saw the tsg superlight, and was curious has anyone tried one? are they low profile?worth the money? Jake.
Only used on 2 rides so far, doesn't feel like there's anything on my head. Was telling my mate on fb how insanely light it was and he was like it's just a helmet and weight there doesn't matter, but then he picked it up and said how insanely light it was too haha. I'm using XL but feels like a medium in terms of MTB helmets, the original padding in it will make it feel like a small but put the thin padding in and it feels like a large. I'm 57cm and it feels a good fit, any smaller would be bad though. I can get an exact measurement if you like? It's quite an oval shaped lid compared to many bmx pisspots which is nice. Wraps round the skull much better. One thing to beware off though, is the helmet feels like its just foam but with a matt black plastic coating if that makes sense? If I push hard enough it feels like I'm pushing hard foam, so I'm guessing as soon as it takes a heavy hit you'll need to buy a new one but it'll definitely do the job. Cheers for that mate, so you reckon it's a nice helmet , but won't last too long? How does it look when on the head? It obviously doesn't stick out half as much? persistant_itch
http://www.kunstform.org/images/tsg-evolution-graphicspecial-helmet-05.jpg Cheers Ben, it actually looks ok, I was gonna buy the pro-tec lasek but it's costing me around the same with postage and duties, so it's a toss up between the 2, I dont care which helmet I get so long as I don't look like a bellend. It obviously doesn't stick out half as much? What I mean is, other helmets have like 3mm thick plastic shell which makes it heavier and stronger I guess, which means it can probably take a couple of heavy hits but many manufacturers say to replace helmet after 1 heavy hit anyway as that's what it's designed to do really because after that it won't ever be as strong and there may be small cracks in the foam even if it looks intact. Maybe I think it's weaker than it is cause it's so light haha, but I'd deffo buy one again from what it's lived up to so far.
Jake.
And yeah you don't have to worry about looking silly, pretty much all tsg or protec helmets and well designed and it's not like the helmet is gonna be bigger on you than others so just find some pictures on Google of people wearing the lid if you're that self conscious haha. I wore a neon lid for a few months so I can't really say anything there.
persistant_itch
ha I do sound pretty ridiculous, just that in my town people would scream abuse at you for wearing dodgy trainers, so you can imagine the helmet! thanks for the advice dude, I think I'll order the tsg,if that doesn't look ok nothing will!
