Joshuaawrightt
Hello, I'm new to trials and don't have a clue what size sprocket to have on front and rear? Please could someone help? Many thanks, Josh
trialsiain
What sort of bike do you have ? if its a pure trials bike with no seat, usually its 20"- 18T front, 12T rear 24"- 18T front, 14T rear 26" 18T front,15T rear
Joshuaawrightt
It's on onza bird. I don't think it's anywhere near them sizes Thank you
Dazza1414
What sort of bike do you have ? if its a pure trials bike with no seat, usually its 20"- 18T front, 12T rear 24"- 18T front, 14T rear 26" 18T front,15T rear So what would be the ideal rear sprocket for a 24" and a 26" seated trials bike if a 18t front is being used? trialsiain
It's on onza bird. I don't think it's anywhere near them sizes Thank you Oh right they are different ratios as standard, check out the description on here http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/20_inch_trials_bikes/onza_bird_2013/c10p11939.html
Joshuaawrightt
It's running 24-16 Would it matter if I changed it to 18-12? What's the pros and cons? And what freewheel is right for this bike? Many thanks Josh
Bint
Your best bet is 18:12 on a mod or 18:13 if you find 12t on the rear too hard, the majority of mod riders use 18:12. You can use any freewheel, if you're just starting out I'd go with a Tensile, cheap and relatively good for the price, get an 18t freewheel up front and a fixed 12t sprocket on the rear. Not sure on your cranks but you might have to buy new cranks with a thread instead of a bolt on sprocket which the old T-Birds used to come with.
dezmtber
I sure old t birds came 22-16. a cheap way would be get that 16 changed over for a good quality 18 freewheel
butterztrials123
I did it to my onza bird I think it was worth it
trialsbikingnunn
you will need to change the cranks on the bird to run front freewheel, any cranks with a thread on them will do
butterztrials123
I didn't need to change cranks, all yeah need is 18 freewheel, a freewheel tool(or hammer and nail whichever you prefer), 12 sprocket ands that's it.
