Jake.
Literally so close to buying a pair of Magura MT2's at the mo, £75 for a pair with one needing a new lever bolt and a bleed. But I've got a mate who's offering me a pair of Hope Tech brakes for £250, Tech v2 front and trial zone rear. Green team if that makes a diffrence. I also want saints badly. What do I do? isitafox
I've just picked up a pair of hope tech trials for when I get an arcade after xmas but don't forget Mark ran some MT2's on his briefly and rated them. Have you never used them before? I've got one on the front of my Marino (cost a bargain £30) and it's superb, even with a fairly average rotor. Jake.
ALL hope's I've used in the past apart from a couple of mini's have never failed to impress me, only had a go on one pair of saints though which felt like maguras so maybe a bit too good for me haha. Never tried magura mt2's before and yeah I heard mark rated them but from what I've heard in general, are very mixed opinions about the mt2's.. FamilyBiker
never used an mt2 for trials, but did some rides on a mtb that had them on.immense power, but a bit too much lever flex for my liking
insomnia
Isn't Flipp acutally riding those MT2's on his "Got brakes bike" I mean he is insane without brakes so maybe it doesnt count... Jake.
Hmm interesting mix of feedback, exactly what I expected to hear about the mt2's haha. Same with hopes being super reliable up til they go wrong then are a pain to fix unless you know your shit.
ogre
i thought the magura discs on flips rig were very good, he munched one but it got warrentied pretty swiftly.. i'd certainly consider them if i hadn't got my hopes so cheaply. shercofray
I personally wouldn't touch Hopes again, always had problems it seemed! Having run saints the last couple of years I wouldn't get anything but for a street bike - and I'm pretty sure that's the same with the majority of street riders, which is why everyone runs them. Having ridden cockys bike with an mt2 on the rear I didn't like it as much as my saint, the lever felt ok but I think the 2 pot caliper lets them down on the bigger wheeled bikes as the hold wasn't quite there. It's ok comparing them to flipp but the difference in wheel size makes a hell of a difference. Cocky rated his, until he got a saint, so may be worth giving him a message for a better review. Get saints dude! Especially if you're considering spending £250 on some hopes!

Jake.
Bought saints. Had to dig into the savings a little, not a good feeling at all. What pads/rotors to get?
shercofray
Good choice! Did you go for M810's or M820's? XT ice tech rotors; I've had both a 180 and 203 and the latter has performed better imo - the 180 was still great mind. I've always run standard pads and they've been fine for me, I think Luke and Mark were running EBC red pads, i can't remember if that's 100% right, but they thought they were great. Give them a message and check before buying though!
Blake
Euan ran EBC red pads, pretty sure mark and ali did too
Jake.
Cheers man was looking at the ice rotor. About £25 on chain reaction at the mo at half price!! Know anywhere that does the cheaper? Will have a look at those pads too cheers boys, think Cocky recommended the bbb red or blue pads too. Any organics will do I've heard. LEON
Ice look great but you won't find cheap ones anywhere, if you're not up for paying £50 for a pair of rotors then the old XT work just as well, that's what I use. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shimano-Deore-Xt-RT76-disc-brake-rotors-pair-180mm-6-bolt-/141127911627?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item20dbe108cb Edited December 5, 2013 by LEON
Jake.
If that works just as good, what's the hype for 6bolt ones then?
LEON
They have an aluminum spider so they're a bit lighter than full steel ones, plus they look cool. Plus if you hit them I reckon the full steel ones are gonna be stronger. Edited December 5, 2013 by LEON
