onzatpro09
Why yes, I am the proud owner of a motorbike. I am only 14, as I seem to have said a lot lately, so I have no idea about the functionality of engines except for the basic "suck, squeeze, bang, blow" idea. All I could think of is something silly like having the choke on

Thanks well,we had that in the apprenticeship, but in my business life i had the main focus on bicycles, hence not being deep into motors. in theory you could increase the idle air supply or lower the valve needle. is it what you brits would call a koppers-carb or a normal with floater? if it was in the richest setting because of dirt inside(only readjusted to continue riding) it maybe has to be adjusted new from scratch, now that its clean. FamilyBiker
argh, why not:http://www.bristollambretta.com/mixtureadjustment.htm (same process for all floater carbs basically) http://www.dellorto.co.uk/images/parts/PHBH_l.pdf (exploded view,a rubber seal mounted the wrong way round can make all the difference)
forteh
No experience of that bike and carb but have tuned bikes with dellorto carbs before, specifically the phm40 round slide. Sounds as though your float height is to low or the fuel inlet valve is partially blocked. If the fuel level in the float bowl is to low, the engine will start to run lean which causes the revs to increase. Try resetting the float height to what is recommended by dellorto (find a manual for it) and it should cure it
psiron
you say you took the carb apart, i suggest you have a look at the slide see if you have it around the right way.
dezmtber
Find a manual read it and reset the carb to factory, and start from there. and if you had it apart last, check you did it correctly
