persistant_itch
hey, so I want to get something nice for myself for Christmas and was considering trying to get my hands on a Mk1 Skye frame and forks, and selling my fourplay. I'm having trouble with space on the fourplay when on the back wheel.like I'm gonna buy a longer stem to try it, but considering the trade anyway. so my question is, does anyone know the reach of a 2011 fourplay? and how does that compare to 2012 and the mk1 skye? any help appreciated, even if it's just tips on getting more space on the bike in general
trialsquirt
Unless you plan on doing tail whips, spins and bunnyhops I would advise that you get something like an echo trial or a neon bow 24.
monkeyseemonkeydo
You can measure the reach on your Fourplay and if you want I can get the dimension from my mk1 Skye this afternoon so you can compare. Also as a heads up I'm quite seriously considering selling my Skye frameset (frame, forks, headset, seat clamp and axles/hub adapters to be used wit Hope hubs) to make way for a Arcade frameset when they're released so if you were after one (and they're pretty much like hen's teeth!) you could be in luck
williams
Correct me if I'm wrong but Inspired skyes are shorter than the fourplays etc.
monkeyseemonkeydo
Ssshhhhh! But yeah, I think WB is 1025 ish vs. 990 with the same(?) head angle and similar chainstay lengths so I would have thought the reach would also be slightly smaller on the Skye

If you're having trouble with space on your Fourplay then you're probably going to hate the Skye. It's a lot shorter and a lot more cramped and no way near as easy on the back wheel (all perfect for me). You're much more in the centre of the bike compared to a Fourplay where I always felt at the back of it. If you're considering a longer stem on the Fourplay then you'd be wanting a meter stick on the Skye and no one wants to see that.... The Skye is a brilliant bike but it doesn't sound like it's what you're after. If you want more space then try rolling your bars forward a little, if that doesn't work then you'll have to try a longer stem.

Remember it's designed around a wee man. Edited November 22, 2013 by Matthew62
