Otacon Posted November 18, 2013 Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 (edited) Watched your video's in new members chat. Saw you havnt quite found your balance point on your rear wheel. Which is vital in your progression in trials as its the thing you use the most out of anything else, without finding your balance and balance point correctly, everything else you learn to do from hear on out will be done wrong, with the wrong technique. I like to refer to, don't run before you can walk. Quite a high spec to be learning on aswell. Abit of advice from me. -Ditch the rear disc and get a magura or something (Not sure if that frame has 4 bolt mounts to accommodate for magura or not) -Get your chain tensioned up properly, looks abit too slack. -Maybe invest in some trialtech bars, they have more rise on them than the ones you have now, the rule generally is, the higher your front end, the better you control is when on the back wheel. I noticed in your videos, everything looks rushed what your doing. Trials is a sport of precision and control and i understand the eagerness to want to do gaps and drops etc, but the importance of getting your balance and control just on flat ground is so important, for two reasons: A - So you don't hurt yourself, Trials is an extremely dangerous sport and B - So that everything you learn from here on out is done correctly. If you continue on how are are, you'll get in a state of mind where you feel you can just go ontop of a 5ft wall, do one pedal kick to the end and then just pedal kick again and throw yourself off it and hope to land on the wall/rail/kurb your aiming for and it's dangerous. Get your balance, control, technique and stability dialled on flat ground and then move onto obstacles. Please don't feel like I'm having a go at you. Daffy-Duck Posted November 18, 2013 Author Report Share Posted November 18, 2013 cheers thanks for all that!! i got this through a mate second hand. yea the chain does need tightening (oops) i took the photo after a ride, and it slackens off EVERY time. it has snail clamps im just trying at the moment to find my balancing point on the flat, but i feel as thow my chest just locks up when i do :/ so your advising i need magura rim brakes?? because it doesnt have any mounts, and i dont have much money Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
williams Posted November 19, 2013 Report Share Posted November 19, 2013 Meeeeh, deffo no need to change to maguras. Disc brakes are often nicer on 20" bikes. But I'd recommend getting a set of hydraulic brakes like a hope tech trial,shimano saint or a magura mt2. But you don't need that.. No need to change your bars either. Just ride and have fun!
