stirlingpowers
There's snailcams, sprung tensioners with two sprockets, self-made spokes, Hoffmann's eccentric system, and the types I am interested in for this thread: Sliding axle mounts (Ozonys), Deng-style "screw through dropouts", and Inpulse's tool-free comfort screw: If you have had experience with one of the latter three, could you comment on their practicality in adjustment and their ability to hold a position during riding? Martin Reynolds
I've used the top one on the onza blade, and it seams a solid way to tension your wheel. These as with other systems, the adjustor screws are there only to make the tension, its the axle bolts which should clamp the wheel and stop it moving. J.KYDD
Onza us a system pretty much the same as the Echo one and its always worked perfectly. As said above, the screws are only there to achieve the right tension, the axle bolts are what actually clamp the wheel
Ash-Kennard
ive found on the onza ones that the tensioning screws seem to bury themselves into the block that contacts the frame and the hub, very annoying as it is a pain in the arse to tension, but doesnt really move once its set
dngr2self
I've used the Onza system which, as stated, is the same as the echo system. I found it to be really easy to set up but did nearly lose a bolt, a drop of loctite though and it didn't happen again.
FamilyBiker
my marino has that too,an it works fine, but i also think the axle position should be/is secured by the axle bolts
jambo
Id find it very hard to choose a frame with snail cams after running these on my Echo worked with my pro 2 like a dream!
dezmtber
those systems i find can creak from time to time, but work well
Echo-Scott
The top picture(Same as on my Neon) is horrid. The bolts doing the tensioning bent within a week of riding. Really not impressed with them to be honest, Running a Heatsink/74 Kings tensioner now.
Little Yoshi
Then ypu didn't have the axle bolts done up tight enough. There should be no weight on the tensioning bolts. Just read the topic and you can see wher. Your going wrong
bing
Onza's method is the best by far. Screw and locknut, and the little axle insert works perfect. I've never had any bother with any of mine

thinkdougie
My echo gurb screw rounded off in my frame which made the frame useless :/ Prefer the onza ones as they arn't as much internal.
Blake
Onza ones are the best thing i've ever used. Jack harmer was using them when he had a snapped axle and they still held the wheel in place
stirlingpowers
Ok then, thanks everyone for participating, I know a lot more about chain tensioners now, which will help me in deciding the system for my new frame.
