err
hey all, I need to know whether I can swap out the rim on my rear wheel without changing the spokes, I've spent ages trying to figure it out on various spoke calculators and now my head hurts :'( It's an echo tr rim/hub 19 inch wheel and I want to change to an onza pro diamond rim. Any help would be appreciated!
Ali C
you'll need longer spokes if memory serves me right
BradJohnson
you'll need longer spokes if memory serves me right Yup that's correct.

Blake
I've changed rims multiple times without changing spokes with no problems. It's not ideal but it works if you're lazy/poor
monkeyseemonkeydo
I've changed rims multiple times without changing spokes with no problems. Likewise. Try it first and if you need longer spokes get them.
AdamR28
It's fairly easy to calculate - you can just do the bigger ERD minus the smaller one, then divide by two. In this case, you'd ideally need 4-5mm longer spokes, it MIGHT just work but you'll not have a lot of thread contact.
Azarathal
I'd say get new spokes to be honest, easier to build the wheel with new spokes especially the correct length

Changing from a 3x to a 2x and 1x or radial setup purely because the spoke lengths weren't quite right!
dave33
If its 3 cross you should be fine to use them 2x if you can't afford new spokes.
AdamR28
That would be a little closer yeah, but the difference in length between 3x and 2x is ~7mm for a 19" wheel, so they'd end up 2-3mm too long.
dezmtber
4mm longer on both sides. use some 14mm nipplesif your wheel has 12mm nipples. you could even get some coloured alloy 14mm nipples 2x will work with the orginal spokes and nipples
