crashbanggg
Iv just built up my bike onto a new frame, however the head tube must be a lot longer as the steerer only reaches the middle of the top bolt (at a push) with no spacers between the headset and the stem (is that ok to do?) so looks like this: Is it ok to run it like that or will it all end in tears? Luke Rainbird
Not ideal, but you'll likely be ok if you're not a particularly big/harsh rider. Make sure you have a long enough preload bolt in the top cap and if you can swap the fork/stem out at some point then get involved, but it'd keep you riding for a while at least. Other option is a headlock, if you can get your hands on one. Holds things together a little more firmly.
J.KYDD
The stem on my trials bike is worse than this and is fine. I can't see you having any troubles
wilf
Yeah not ideal but it should be alright, I've ran one this short before without any problems.
aener
If it's any consolation my trials bike has a very similar sized gap.
crashbanggg
Thanks all! I'm a bit happier riding with it now!
Blake
Bare in mind the gap will get a little smaller when you compress the headset. I've ran the same sized gap on my bike before with no beef ^^
