Blake
Don't land so sideways and pump up your tyre a bit more. Tyres are hard i'm just f**kin harsh. learn to land smoother then and have a better brake by having a grind surely a no brainer. only a better brake by preference
trialsiain
If your riding street most of the time a smooth rim is no problem, if your going to be going in any wet conditions (grass, mud etc) a grind is a must.

Blake
brake cleaner? like disk brake cleaner from halfords, use it on my rims so don't see why it wouldn't work. A good way to do it if the cleaner alone isn't enough, let your tyre down and spray it on your rim then set it on fire. See what happens
0zzy
There is no preference to which performs better...
