LauraPalmer
Hey! Flipp you are answering as far as strength and stiffness is concerned, how do these forks compare to the tnn and trialtech sport forks? with "as for strength, these forks are stronger than both." was that more of an assumption because of the mentioned technical details on the TrialTechs or have there actually been TNN forks that have failed already? - I´m asking, as I´ll decide between the TNNs and those new Trialtechs myself; I usually go strength and reliability over weight, but saving a little weight isn´t that bad either... Anyone else has something to contribute to that topic?
trialsiain
Ive seen some cracked tnns, but im using a set just now and they seem stiff as. If i had the choice now I would go with the new trialtechs
Jake.
The TNN ones are 200g heavier, and the Trialtech ones are the second lightest alloy forks, so it's strange to think the trialtechs are stronger but I can understand how flexiness makes them stronger though. I'd probably go with the triatechs if they had a vee option, but I'd expect the TNN's to outlast trialtechs any day. If i had the choice now I would go with the new trialtechs were they the HS33 or V-version? edit: I guess they didn´t brake at the steel sterrer but at the legs, right? I´d go V with Tnns and disc with TTs, except the TNN finally come in a disc version... Edited September 27, 2013 by LauraPalmer

aener
That was based on the technical details. The older style Trialtech forks would occasionally break, and I've heard of a few sets of TNNs dying (no details, sorry - just rumour really). It is a proven fact (via both machine and rider testing) that the Sport Lites are stronger than the old Trialtechs, and by extension (and a little assumption) the TNNs. FamilyBiker
there are other forks out there,if you can live with 980g... right,i mean marinos, but: not in a commercial way,but in a "look what i´ve done to mine and they look like new except scratches" way. and some may know i start every line with a front wheel pivot lol, thousands of load intervals applied people, feel free to just ignore this if you think its my usual marino spleen,i´m not here the first day so i expect people to joke me now Edited September 27, 2013 by FamilyBiker

Tnns do feel really stiff but i think having a steel steerer is a bit overkill
FamilyBiker
after seeing them snapped forks from marino, no thanks. Tnns do feel really stiff but i think having a steel steerer is a bit overkill the snapped ones were 3 years old mate, and pretty lightweight without being heat treated. youll see more than 10 snapped alu forks in the same year you see 1 marino fork,i think just to mention the facts. its your personal choice though, just saying mine held up every bailed to front i did this year(wanted to jump up some stairs and hit the last one on top, felt like riding into a wall),not bad for a fork thats sub 100$. didnt want to start something here, some like marino stuff, some dont Edited September 27, 2013 by FamilyBiker
Azarathal
How many Marino forks will you see vs those alloy forks though? So far the only Marino forks I've seen were snapped
LauraPalmer
I guess every thread has to turn into a Marino vs JAF vs Inspired thread nowadays - anyway thanks for the input... I see, would have preferred, if it was rather based on hard facts (which is difficult anyway, only really possible with a machine testing it or as the second best solution with the same rider over the same time period with the same amount and level of riding...); I was just surprised, as the Australian test riders (Nate Dog...) who broke the older TTs quite fast (three months), had them TNN going strong for a year... Anyway, looks like the new TTs are going to be it for me, mainly because of the disc-mount - hope I can get used to the flex, as that´s usually not my thing... Does anyone have a comparison flex-wise between the Rockman Spades (that´s what I´m running at them moment, and I´m not very happy with them stiffness wise coming from my beloved steel steerer TryAlls) and the new TTs? And do you or anyone else from the Tarty crew know the rake of the newer Spade forks? it says 30mm but I did the WB with normal bars + WB with reversed bars /2 method and it was more like 25mm - but that´s not the most accurat way to measure that I guess...
