bing
Please refer to the picture below So to me, this suggests there is more than one type of coust pad. I have the 'French' cousts on my ride now, and I have tried the 'heatsink' coust when I had my mod. When I asked heatsink Steve, he said he gets his material from Michel coustellier. Yet there seems to be a noticeable difference in performance. The French cousts are in a different league to the heatsink cousts, its a tad strange if they are supposedly the same thing

J.KYDD
Whatever Steve says - they aren't the same. The colour is completely different for starters. I've ridden both, and 'real' Custs are far, far superior
dave33
They are all put together differently which can change the performance. Some are taller than others The French have chamfers on them which give less surface area so more pressure to friction Could be a load of different reasons
SamKidney
My "heatsink" cousts have performed the same, if not better, than some of the "french" setups I've tried.
BradJohnson
French Coust's are bonded into Magura backings which are much stronger and stiffer than the power pad backings Steve uses. Also Steve bonds his pads a different way to Michel.

Mark W
Shrewd business move. Why sell pads at a loss when you can cut out the middle man and make a profit.

Also Steve bonds his pads a different way to Michel. The "French cousts" I got were mearly glued onto old pad left in the powerpad backings. Bought these around 1 month ago and have pictures to prove it. Through Trials addict aswell.
Ali C
they are a different colour because (I imagine) Steve cuts the material with a knife which leaves a glossy finish and the cousts cut and then shape the pad (with an abrasive) which leaves a duller matte finish. trialsiain
ive asked and he said there the same material but fitted into backings differently, one looks a different colour because theres yellow under neath the rubber
FamilyBiker
why does noone mould them like i do? okay,it takes a week to cure them, especially softer ones. but its so easy and the recess shape is the same every time without effort there were also cousts that were bonded to the surface of a "decapitated" pad,i mean the pad body itself, sounds scary to me
