MarkGH
So the title sounds misleading but here is my question. just bought a bike and the rear mag had a split on the tube on the slave cylingers and i tryed to cut it off than put it back on but the hose did feel like its too hard to put back together. is it normal that the mag hose so hard or it might got old as rubber/plastic and stiffened up? should i replace the whole hose on the mag? sorry if i misspell something as im hungarian but i do live in colchester and looking for rider mates aswell so if you know some1 let me know too ok? AdamR28
It's normal, it's meant to be hard to go back on, or else it will also come back off easily
MarkGH
now that you mention ... it was a stupid question :DDD anyways i used to do trials about 8 years ago but only had V's front and back. so im bit newbie with maguras. can you suggest the easyest way for me to put the hose back on its place? Blake
Are you trying to fit a barb?
MarkGH
i think yes if thats the one (two) that goes in between the two slave cilindes with a short hose.

FamilyBiker
the polyamid used for magura hoses can get brittle from uv radiation, but that effect shows up only after 10+years with bikes that are standing outdoors all the time,so i wouldnt worry. do you have that "hose clamping thingy" to clamp it in a vice or are you trying to freestyle hammer it in? FamilyBiker
a clamping device makes life so much easier when it comes to barbed fittings... go to your lbs, theyll have some laying around from mounting new shimano disc brakes, every brake has them included. JDâ„¢
Piece of wood, drill a hole in it. Cut the wood in half, dissecting the hole. That should cost you nothing but about 2 minutes.
MarkGH
And where can i get one of these?
trialsiain
No I tried hammering in for ages then got it done in a few seconds when I done this method (wait ill get pic of computer)
Neon-trials
Not sure we're h buy them from a always use my mates who works at aj cycles round the corner from me I'm pretty sure there about 60 quid though lol so might be worth taking it to a bike shop
trialsiain
i found how to do it on forum somewhere, cut bent end off a spoke then put nipple upside down on it and hammer it in, you need to make a clamp though to put in vice, I just got two bits of wood and drilled down centre of them
*gentlydoesit
I've never tried this but won't dunking the ends in boiling water soften them up enough to just push it on? Its very similar to Aston martin fuel pipes.
isitafox
Yes but it can make the hose split, bit of lube and the spoke method always works for me
