err
Having just gotten back into riding again myself, my eldest son aaron decided he wants to start too. A quick scout round the bay turned up this bad boy for 77 quid, i know they don't exactly have a great rep but it'll do for him to start on! Unfortunately he managed to do this on his second outing! (WARNING GRAPHIC SHINNER CONTENT BELOW) So to cheer him up a bit i resprayed it for him (we both hated the graphics so it was only a matter of time anway lol) He also asked if i could i could put a cut out in the head tube too close up of the head tube, we wrapped the steerer in some neon yellow vinyl, i think the contrast looks good he loves the new colour, the whole thing is a little ghetto but it's just a bit of fun all comments welcome
onzatpro09
My bike needs a respray. How did you do it? Did you just strip it, cover holes and spray or did you do all of the professional jazz on it? How is the finish? err
I just stripped it down and keyed the laquer that was on there to give the new paint something to stick to. It's not a fantastic finish but the satin paint hides most of the bad stuff and it's a trials bike and gonna get scratched anyway!
bing
Okay for the money, get the brakes water bled and bang a grind on, he'll be improving in no time Edited August 23, 2013 by bing
err
Okay for the money, get the brakes water bled and bang a grind on, he'll be improving in no time Yeah I figure if he gets bored with it I can always get some money back on the hs33s, I won't be water bleeding as I've had problems with swollen pistons in the past! will grind the rear asap, he loves brake honk lol
bing
Leave em oil bled then dude. Whack grinds on, get some decent pads. Nowt worse for a kids confidence than falling off due to shite brakes. Its always the first thing I sort out on a new build. Plastic backed heatsink yellows, blues, or rockman blue/green. Anything around that price range is pretty decent. If you can stretch to a few quid more, get cousts. Ultimate in hs33 pads
err
I've stuck some koolstops on the front to keep a bit of modulation as he rides it around normally too, but it's running those red pads in cnc backings off ebay on the rear (had them from my old stock build) Also swapped out the v8s for some plastic platforms til he gets a bit more confident. JQ1989
Love the dad/son trials thing, soooo cool ^ Definately. My Dad brought me a Yamaha TY80 when i was 9 and I've never looked back! Awesome to go out riding with the old man every weekend and we certainly wouldn't be as good pals if it wasn't for trials. (I know I'm talking about motor bikes but it's the same principle) Your wallet might not agree though! Oh and impressive shinner, as we all know, chicks dig scars! ben duda
Cool little beginners bike! My lads 5 now and I'm looking forward to getting him on a trials bike soon. My mates got a Onza tee vee sat there doing nothing so maybe with a shorter stem on and some different bars it would do him. The Onza mini master is a cool little bike but a lot of money if he rarely uses it.
