jigga
Trials is a great sport. It would be 100% more enjoyable if my bike(s) didnt have issues at least every 2nd ride. I've read the recent 'broken trials parts thread' and the 'why dont trials parts last longer?' thread where a number of companies particularily got thrown to the lions. Just interested to see how often other riders have issues, large or small. I have to take time away from the bike sometimes to forget about the constant adjustment and f*'ing about with it. I dont expect anything to take a pounding without needing looking after but I'm spending more and more time trying to get alignments right, truing wheels etc.. One of my biggest problems on both 26" and 24" is spokes loosening. Spoke breakages are another, even once I've trued the wheel, trying for reasonable spoke tension. I re-spoke rear wheels prob. every year or so as they're fatigued by then, but still have problems. Whats broken lately? FamilyBiker
to be honest i do about an hour a week of maintanance on my bike so theres barely anything that fails except tubes and griptape invest the work, its worth it. and for example, spokes tend to snap more from too low tension than from too high, maybe try increasing the overall tension? mine are that much preloaded,i cant even squeeze a crossing section by 3mm

These have made a huge difference to the lifespan of my wheels as you hold onto spoke tension for a lot longer. I easily destroy wheels but my current ones have lasted me 18 months and are still going strong. No doubt this relates to the rims and spokes themselves also but without the nipple freeze on one wheel and the nylon nipples on another I don't think they would have lasted me this long and still be in such good condition. bing
They're just not though. Ok, the one I have is, it's two months old, bought from tartys by someone else I might add. All he did was bed it in, and hardly rode. I'm not a massively big rider, no do I put massive forces through the drivetrain and bash the f**k out of it. It's the first echo sl I've ever had, and I've seen plenty of mates who have had them break theirs. So yes, in my mind, they are shite

I destroyed mine in less than 1.5months.. as you know, i dont go large or bash hard. I managed to bruise all the teeth on the cog and damage the pawls. (Properly bedded in and i even de-greased it) On the flip side ive had my Echo the same amount of time and its beautttttttttttt ! Luck of the draw i guess. SamKidney
+1 Bought my SL last august and its still as crisp and positive as the day I fitted it. The neon forks Im running however arent... On my second (new) set that I fitted the night before radfest and then rode over radfest and an hour last weekend, and theyre cracked on both legs above the magura mounts. bing
Not a good sign when parts break after 2 months of usage. Its entirely possible that I have had one of the bad batch. And so have some of the lads. As for other parts, I cracked an 07 echo team, and wrecked an onza bb, but that's about it. See you swear by the Tensile 60 click. I've had 2 tensile 60 clicks, one was bought from dezmtber, and he did the usual degreasing and bedding in. I bought it from him when it was 6 moths old and its still going strong now. The other one was on a zoot I had, and that too was fine, and over a year old. The echo was two months old and its f**ked. I suspect a smashed pawl by the way its locked up, but until I can get it in a vice at work and see what's up, i don't really know.I'm getting another sl to replace this one, if that one does the same the I'm going back to a try all 108.9, which was spot on in all the time I had it. dezmtber
Get a hope pro 2. Very nice. I haven't broke any trials parts yet. But have snapped a saint crank axle. Snapped the bridge on my old pikes. Dented a lot of rims. And snapped a set of x lite carbon bars in a day

Canardweb
About Echo SL FW, I still have my first gen one on my 26" (and I mean first batch ever released when they were called Echo 108!) and it still runs as smooth as ever. And it eats sand and dust regularly. Just ride smooth and maintain your bike that's all.
Ash-Kennard
i think it depends on how often you ride it. and how fat you are

My bike is fastidiously maintained, the slightest little noise that doesn't sound right and its stripped down to find out what it is. I hate creaks and rumbles, I knew the ffw was on its way out as soon as I heard grating noises. It came off and got replaced
dezmtber
Saint crank axles snap if you do huge drops. I even had a time trial road cyclist snap a ultegra crank axle

LEON
I get bored of parts and replace them too often to break any. I think about the potential injuries too much.
